Started following advice here in January 2008. Have now received full repayments from Barclaycard M/C and Visa, and Halifax C/C. 3 refunds in total £1200 now received.
Did not need Ombudsman or Court, although continued phone calls, after letters, got somewhat stressful. All sorts of excuses made for delaying repayment, (sent cheque to previous address despite current correspondence to current address! - could not put money into third party account but two calls later did just that, etc, etc.) however, eventually all three companies became pleasant and helpful.
Free now of credit card debt, accounts closed and they'll stay that way. Lesson well learned.
Thank you Martin and MSE, I could not have done this without your advice and the encouragement of other Forum members.
Barclays Bank overdraft on hold pending outcome of court case, should be enough to clear O/D, (approx £800) if claim successful.0 -
Barclaycard
Claimed £295 (didnt ask for interest)
Received £480.99 :T
Letters sent: 3
Time taken to complete claim: 3 weeks
Thank you so much Martin, I really really appreciate your advice on this site.
I have paid off all my credit cards, saved £11,000, opened top savings account, and helped my dad reclaim over £1000 all since discovering this site in January.
Thanks Martin. You are a star!0 -
Hello everyone,
Seems so long ago I posted on this site (have even forgot my original log in ID) but my war against LTSB still goes on.
Last July I filed through MCOL and managed to re-claim £3652.13 on one current account and £1623.26 on the other making a TOTAL OF £5275.39 :j
I am currently still having a war with them about a credit card acount I had with them that was closed in June 2006. I am asking for £482.62 (£400 charges and £82.62 interest)
I originally wrote to them Aug 07 then forgot about it and wrote again April 2008, I got the standard get lost letter and this time decided to file with the FOS. I received a letter on 3rd June from the FOS telling me that they have written to LTSB asking for them to let me hae their "final response" to my complaint within the next 14 days (giving them until 17th June - a week on Tues) to respond - Is this normal? What will happen now? Having not dealt through the FOS before I'm not sure about this one....
Can anyone help?0 -
Provider: Halifax
Amount Claimed: £881
Amount refunded: £881
Used MSE's template to write to Halifax; got interim letter telling me that they were looking in to it; after three weeks told that they would repay me £320 (Charges over £12 with no interest). I replied with my own letter, asking if they would be willing to substantiate their charges in court. Hey presto, 5 weeks later, they coughed up the lot.
Thanks, Martin. everyone should do this0 -

Provider: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: £122.58
Amount they paid: £153.47
The story: I used the template letter to write to HSBC requesting £122.58 but they wrote back to me stating that they were not paying anything as their charges were fair. I replied with Martin's second letter and told them I was willing to accept £50 (something is better than nothing, I thought) but they have since written back to me stating they are now willing to pay £153.47. Don't know why but needless to say I snapped their hand off!!!!
Provider: Mint
Amount Reclaimed: £240.49
Amount they paid: £80.00
The story: I used the template letter as before and within a week I got a cheque from Mint for £80. Have gone on the assumption that something is better than nothing and am pleased that I got something back.
I am still waiting for responses from Virgin and Citi Cards so will keep you updated!!!0 -

I am currently waiting for Halifax CC to refund my charges - they owe me £1449 (including interest) and have offered me £500, which, of course, I am not happy with.
Is there any chance you could put a copy of the letter you sent to them on here so I can use this to reply to them? Any help is appreciated!!
Many Thanks0 -
