Both successful via FSA office
Egg ~ originally turned down any refund, then offered £68 (no idea how that worked out)
I submitted claim via FSA for £402 inc stat interest & after couple of "ongoing" letters from FSA Egg offered full settlement. I acknowledged offer & money rec'd within week.
B/Card ~ originally turned down, then said would credit account with £60 (only problem was the account was closed in 2004 !!) I declined & said any repayment should be to me. Looked to have £380 inc stat interest refunded. Same letters from FSA but then another offer vis them for full settlement from b/card. I acknowledged this & reply saying b/card may need 4-6 weeks to pay due "to volumes being processed" . Should see money soon
RESULT ! all take heart, & use FSA as an alternative to court when chasing CC refunds0 -
Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £240
Amount they paid: £240 plus 8% interest = total £259.20
The story: Reclaims made using Martin's guide and template letters.
Sent first letter 29th April, asking for return of all charges, which had all been set at £20 as they were before the August 2006 charge reduction to £12. Received standard reply, saying charges were fair and transparent and I had agreed to them when I signed for the credit card. As a gesture of goodwill, they offered the difference between the £20 charge and the £12 charge.
Wrote back using the second template letter, accepting the lower payment without prejudice as a part payment of my claim - and stated that I was prepared to go to court to reclaim the remainder.
Received a letter this weekend crediting my account with the £240 claimed, plus 8% interest. I understand that Barclaycard are willing to pay the 8% interest, but it is 8% of the total, not 8% of each charge as calculated by the charges calculator.
I need to check that the money has gone into my account, as I am on a DMP and Barclaycard sold off my account about a year ago.
Thanks Martin - the whole process was very easy and the template letters are great! :beer:LBM November 2005: approx £32K :eek:Current debt: approx £12K :TGetting there one day at a time0 -

Provider: MINT
Amount Reclaimed: £386.64 (inc 8% interest)
Amount they paid: £384.48 (inc 8% interest)
The story: I sent my first letter requesting statements on 17.4.08 followed by my letter asking for all the money back. I had 4 charges of £20 and 21 charges of £12. Was basically told they would refund the difference plus interest so offered £34.56 which i accepted as partial settlement (ended up receiving £29.74 but wont go into reasons why here). Sent the second letter stating that i will accept without prejudice etc and they called me to say that it was their final offer. I told them i would be going to the ombudsman and asked them to send me a letter with a ref number on so i could proceed with my complaint. I received the cheque last week without a letter or a reference number but i contacted the FOS anyway. They told me they would contact Mint and if i was nt satisfied to call them again on 13.6.08 and they would send me out a complaints form.
Well, this morning (about 10 mins ago!!) postie brings me a letter from mint offering a further £349.92 :T as full and final settlement (coincidence? I think not!) which i was very happy to accept. Thats every single charge paid plus interest! Fantastic!
thankyou Martin and Edinburghlass and everyone who helps us reclaim these charges back!

Bank: Nationwide Credit Card
Claimed: £200
Amount they paid: £200
Story: The template letters were used to request refund direct from Nationwide. They offered £16 as a goodwill payment! Needless to say it was rejected and so lodged the case in court citing that the credit charges fell outside of current OFT case for current account charges. They lodged a defence and within 48 hours of that being lodged settled in full! Talk about stringing it out and playing the game. Whole process took 3 months.
My advice is go for it - thanks so much Martin - love your website and newsletters - expect a donation from me.
