    £168 (all £12 charges) on card 1
    £25 charge on card 2

Wrote to MBNA a few weeks back and got the usual letter saying I knew the charges when I signed the agreement. Wrote back to them asking for a list of all charges (without paying £10 fee) advising them that I would be taking this matter to the FOS and they wrote back last week listing all the charges saying that on "this occasion" they would provide this free of charge. I decided that I'd probably not do anything further as they were all £12 charges and low and behold, got a further letter in today from them advising that they will as a "goodwill gesture" pay £239.78 towards my card balance on card 1 and send me a cheque for £100.89 on card 2 (which has since been settled and closed) Result!! Thanks MSE.

Hi I have recently tried to reclaim charges on vanquis and aqua (halifax ) credit cards, Vanquis have replied saying they are happy to refund the fees (£180) if they either close my acc (which is now paid off anyway) or keep acc open but pay annual fee of £25, I will close acc but they have not added the 8% interest that I requested they have listed the fees which amount to £180 so should I just go with that and be thankful they are refunding the £180 or go back to them requesting the interest too? Any advice appreciated. Aqua (who are halifax) have flatly said no to refunding charges as they feel their fees are fair. Anyone had any succsesses on claiming back from halifax ?

I sent off the standard letter to Capital One and Barclaycard regarding my charges requesting a refund about 3-4 weeks ago, I have heard nothing, last week I sent the 2nd letter and STILL nothing....????????
Is there an email address I should be emailing at Capital One and Barclaycard, or does anyone know the exact address and contact I should resend my claim to? Or should I just send it all through to the FOS now? thank you for any help

  • I sent a letter asking for charges dating back to 2006 to be refunded by Barclaycard as they have now taken over EGG. All the charges were 16.00 and over and Barclaycard have witten to me today saying they are not paying me any refund as Egg, decreased the charges to £16.00 from £24.00 as instructed by the OFT in 2006. They see they do not have to give me a penny. I however received a refund from a different Barclaycard for charges of £12.00! How do they justify that? They have taken over Egg and shouldnt they have to follow what they did before with my refund?
They also sent me a list of charges with this letter and it is for a completely different customer with 0 charges!!
The letter ended with this is their final answer and I am more than welcome to take it up with the OFS. I will be doing that!:(

The results are now all in from my three credit card charges reclaim attempts. I had a spectrum of results!

1 - RBS Mint: Full refund of all £12 charges, plus interest and a letter of apology which thanked me for bringing it to their attention.

2 - MBNA/Alliance and Leicester - No refund of £12 charges, but a "goodwill" refund of the difference between the couple of £25 charges.

3 - Bank of Scotland - told me to b*gger off. All £12 charges.

    Total offered = £346 :)

Still pondering whether to call it a day as it seems a fair result or whether I should fudgerella-ise them! (my new word for badgering MBNA)

I sent a lettet to Mint asking for list of charges over the past 6 years, they replied back with list indicating they didn't charge me any late or missed fees - but I am pretty certain they have charged me these fees, but I don't have the statements anymore - any idea what else I can do???

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

Did you use the MSE template SAR request letter asking for ALL your data? Generally you get it all including copy statements.

yes I used the template from MSE - Mint sent me table like a spreadsheet showing £0 on Fees - from 2007 to 2011.
The really should have sent me copy statements?
Shoud I call them requesting statements?

    thanks
