The story: Successfully claimed back PPI on a loan so thought I would try to get charges back on my old card. 1 letter sent to Skycard on 31st Jan giving them 14 days to give me my money back. Received response from Barclaycard on 11th Feb with an offer of the above amount and stating if I was not happy with their offer maybe I could call them directly rather than go to the FOS.
I have accepted offer and will be sending my acceptance letter tomorrow. Waiting for responses from Halifax, Capital One and MBNA.

Hello All, I took the advice of this site and was successful to a degree, Natwest were great total charges £108 they gave me £94 interest and today paid me £202 very happy :T, Barclaycard paid back fees but reduced my credit limit at same time :mad: and Vanquis paid back the fees as well although they were only £12 still waiting to hear from Capital one which is a closed account fingers crossed

The story:

applied for statements: 1st septmember 2007
first request for refund: 16th September 2007
(was offered 250.56 and put it on my old card account), so i refused
2nd request for refund: 27th September 2007
no reply until i checked online today and they've credit the full amount!

thanks to everyone on this site for getting me MY money back.

Have been reading the forums for a while now, finally decided to act and used Martins template letter to send to 5 banks. That was on 23rd January 2012. Received letter from Halifax
31st January 2012 stating they were looking into it. Today 16th February cheque received from them for the above amount. :j:j:j:j
Barclays have sent questionnaires to complete, will let you know how that goes!!!!!! Thank you so much people on the forum and MSE.

Wrote the standard letter and received a response within 1 week confirming they are refunding the above into my card account. Absolutely delighted! Includes £12 charges too plus interest. Wrote to them about my EGG card charges too and they responded saying they are looking into it.

The story: Sent initial letter on 13/2/2012 after adding up charges from statements. Reply received today (20/2/2012) offering more as they had totalled up all charges since 2006 and sent me a list of these as well! I accepted the offer on the basis that they would then close my account, had recently transferred balance to 0% card anyway so happy with this.

Hiya, love this! i hope i am as sucessful, sent my letter 14th feb, got letter today saying they are looking into my claim, so fingers crossed Vanquis will pay up!

I got the generic 'we are looking into it letter' first then offer one quite quickly after. Good luck

Amount they paid :- £299.84 inc interest

Took one letter to vanquis templated from this website sent on the 14th february 2012, with charges sheet attached, recieved a standard letter saying they were looking into my claim on the 20th feb, recieved my letter today from them (22nd feb) saying they will pay up in full all the charges that have been accured since my account opened in early 2009!!

Took 8 days for them to write back now that is quick!! so just got to send of my acceptance and they will clear my balance which is now only £90, and then bank the rest!

now has inspired to get all my family and friends re claiming back all there charges over the years, might even make it my mission now to ensure these companys pay up lol!!

Martin Lewis you are a god!! knighthood definitley required!

This is what is still confusing me about reclaiming credit card charges

The letter template on this site from the 2009 guide mentions charges being "unfair and disproportionate". Is this the template people are using?

I was told that I shouldn't mention unfairness as it was only hardship that is being considered - there would be no template letter for hardship as every case is unique.

I am talking about credit card reclaiming here, not bank charges. Could somebody please clarify?
