  • Our local Lidls is a bit hit and miss but a month ago I was shopping in Devizes for my son and family and found that Lidl fantastic. I didn't buy fresh mince. I dry fried the frozen and got hardly any fat off it!

There were one or two items I couldn't get but in the main I got most of the weekly shop there!

We get all we can from Lidle and anything else from Morrisons.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • My post seems to have got lost so I'll recommend the chocolate again as I think it's pretty good, especially the plain Ecuador and the milk fruit and nut.

When it comes to the fresh mince buy the steak mince not the other stuff, the ordinary stuff is disgustingly full of fat. The steak mince is excellent quality.

  • One of the best things they sell is only available in a few stores - it's a sunflower loaf, a slightly lighter version of pumpernickel, unsliced, not cheap(c £1.20 last time I saw it) but a fantastic taste. I've only ever seen it in two stores - Haverfordwest and Tidbury in Wiltshire

Due to being skint, i have had to re-adjust my shopping bill and have therefore been shopping at lidl`s. I have been greatly impressed with quality but cheap items, My recent best find is the clothes softener.I do find, however, that i cant get every item i need , and top my shop up with a small shop in one of the major , better known stores. I am really looking forward to my next shop at Lidl`s tomorrow.

    Lidl

The cloudy pressed apple juice is fab - not too sweet
The 39p praline and the hazlenut chocolate bars are too addictive
The 79p white chocolate with rice crispies and hazelnuts is divine
    My husband likes the cheeses
Trying to keep my husband away from the marzipan delights now the Christmas stock is in.

It take a bit of getting used to and you need to be brave and take risks.

My mother has shopped there for years - she lives next door to one!

I like the sesame breadsticks from Aldi

A whole fresh pineapple is 85p. Have a bit of a squeeze before you buy though as in my experience sometimes they are v.soft and therefore way past their best.

If you like noodles they do packs for 15p which I have for lunch...they are the instant variety with a little sachet of flavouring inside. Just add boiling water... 15p for lunch...try beating that!

Crispbread, quite similar to Ryvita original in taste and pack size - 27p.

I have never bought them but someone has raved about their Digestive biscuits, saw them at 20p last time I was in, but think they are usually around 30p.

There have been various reports that their ice cream is positively sinful - again I have never bought it because that would be the beginning of the end for me... I understand it's cheaper than Ben & Jerry's etc.

If you have a cat their cat litter is excellent - a big bag of clumping for £1.89 - bigger and better than Tesco or Asda economy types.

I love their porridge, 27p I think, though it's quite a small pack.

The first time I went I was v.put off by the lack of "ambience" and how the goods are displayed still in their boxes. However once you get over the austere atmosphere it's worth having a good browse and giving things a chance. Things are often as good as or perhaps even better than the brands you're used to.

The digestives are good but do have hydrogenated fat in them.

    The shortbread is yummy

We can get noodles from Asda for 8p, my student son loves em:D

I like lidls for their fruit and veg, always good quality and usually half price, and their pre packed ham.

I am also a BIG fan of their maxitrat washing tablets. gets absolutely anything out.
