Honda Stream is a good car. Also how about the Grand Scenic?
Or a VW Touran...?0 -
Whatever takes your fancy, before parting with any of the folding green stuff it might be worth checking the Honestjohn website to see if there are any hidden nasties endemic to that make/model, and perhaps investing in an AA/RAC inspection. Cars are complex pieces of machinery, and there are quite a few lemons out there, regardless of the advertising hype. I hope that doesn't sound patronising, I'm as prone as anyone to a sudden common sense failure when faced with a shiny whizz-bang creation. More than most, in fact...
Seriously though, a bit of basic research can avoid a lot of expense and heartache, and help is at hand, even if it costs a few bob.0 -
I was offered 5750 today at a large mixed garage, one of these supermarket type places. I asked what it 'booked' at, he said 6500. I appreciate it is only a guide, but he had already said my car was one of the nicest 807's he'd seen, and that it had been very well cared for. We advised him about the new engine, prior to his offer. I was looking at a Grand Scenic - nice, but not enough room for double buggy. I also looked at an 05 Galaxy - it still did nothing for light my fire. They also had an 04 Espace - nice, but too expensive if all I'm being offered is 5750.
My DD's Honda dealership has offered 6200 against an FRV, so I test drove one of those this afternoon. It was lovely, and very nippy. They are getting a 1.7 SE in on tuesday for me to look at, and test drive if I loose. I can have it at cost + £100, so that is definately an option.
Whatever I get, I'll make sure I get a good warrenty.
I was disappointed with £5750.

Cool.
The FRV is a 6 seater tho it? Can you cope with having someone on your gear stick while driving? When you go for a test drive - take the kids and buggy with you to make sure it all fits!
I always advise customers to bring their everyday belongings with them for a test drive!
I have a Grand Scenic, Mazda Premacy, a Touran and 2 Espaces in. All 7 seaters. All diesel, apart from the G. Scenic.0 -
I actually took my double buggy to test in the boots - the FRV swallowed it and asked for more! I can manage with 6 seats. In my childminding business, I prefer to offer excellent care for few, rather than adequate care to many.
We have had 2 espaces in the past. One was M reg diesel Automatic which wasn't the right engine as we towed a caravan at the time. The second was bought basically to go to France and bring our DD and her fiance home when they left after working at disneyland Paris for 3 yrs. It would have cost an arm and a leg to hire a van, so we bought an old N reg with 150k on the clock. It had been a prized posession for it's one previous owner, who had EVERY receipt for EVERY item he'd ever bought in connection with his car. He even had a piece of the box with the seriel numbers from all bulbs/filters etc. It was a work of art!
We sold it and still see it regularly on the school run - still going strong.
Oh, what to do?!

Morning! (yes i know - 2am...)
Go with the FRV. they look good on the road and the kids will love it!
But I'd aim to get a bit more off the dealer for yours! Or sell privatly! Saying how brill it is :whistle:0 -
To be honest, I just want rid. Today, the car bleeped and displayed the message - BRAKE PADS WORN. I've only done 100 miles since the car was serviced and MOT'd, and surely if the pads looked worn, they should have been brought to my notice and I'd have had them replaced.
I've had a 6 seater before - Multipla, but although the seat configuration worked fine, I got not respect on the road!!
At least the FRV looks nice! AND I'd get 6200 for my heap of spanners!

Go with the 'onda! It wont go wrong and they don't have annoying beeps! Apart from the seatbelt one. Which is ok i guess...0

HB, I'm taking your advice and getting the Honda tomorrow. I will finally be rid of my bag o' spanners!
Thanks for all your help over the last few weeks everyone, but especially HB.
