New engine or recon one? Oh well, hope its running ok for you...
Do make sure when you fuel up, you FILL it rather than shoving a tenner in here an a tenner there....0 -
Cajef - many thanks for your message. We had a wonderful holiday, despite a 'touch and go' as we landed at chicago. (Wheels touched down, but we were blown off course so took off again - VERY scary)
Our first hire car broke down, we were caught up in the Los Angeles fires, and were in San Francisco when the 5.8 earthquake hit!
The engine is brand new so time will tell.

Oh dear it does not seem to be your lucky year for cars, have you thought about a bicycle.:rotfl:0 -
Many times! But as I'm a childminder, I don't think the parents would be too happy at their little ones riding on my cross bar! Or my basket - boys have cross bars don't they? Or they used to!

LOL. Yes and they bloody well hurt our "bits..."
Anyway, hows you car with the new engine hun? x0 -
I'd love to say it's fantastic HB, it may well be so, however I've still not got it back.

YL... I came to know of this thread as you posted a link on another forum.
Do things in writing, that way there is a record. TBH this is the problem when you buy a second hand car, eg I always buy when 6-18 months old and only sell when the big problems arrive.
Get the garage to extend your warranty free of charge due to the problems.... and enjoy the 807... you do afterall have a new engine and turbo:D0 -
UPDATE
The garage have rung and are delivering my car to me this evening.
The bill to the warrenty company is just under £7500.
My MOT, service, new tyre and oils for the new engine have cost me £185.
I've been told to 'run it in' for around 1000 miles, then let them have it again to check it over. Also keep an eye on water and oil levels.
Hopefully, this is the last of it, but the first time I hear 'ding' - Unblock deisel filter, then rest assured you'll be the first to know!!
Happy weekend everyone.

Ooh the end is in sight, after all these weeks of suspense lets hope the beast is cured, and we don't hear from you again (only on this subject of course).:j
It has been a long saga but hopefully with a happy ending, there is not much more that can go wrong with it now but we shall all be looking out just in case.:D
You have a good weekend and don't die of fright when you come to fill up with fuel, it has just cost me £40 for half a tank today, think I am going to start walking._pale_0 -
Spoke too soon.
Went to the car yesterday morning, loaded it with kiddies and it wouldnt start. I rang AA who took 2 hours to come. he diagnosed a bad earth. He got it started and suggested I rang the dealer to sort it, as it was obviously something left over from puttingin the new engine. The battery registered 12.37 so that was not faulty.
The garage sent a courtesy car for me, but the guy who brought it couldnt get my car started. We tried to jump it from his car, but it turned over very sluggishly then just clicked under the bonnet.
I phoned the AA guy who had given me his mobile number and he said to attach the jump leads to the courtesy car, then attach the red clip to the battery in my car, and the black clip to a big chunk of metal in the engine to earth it.
There were sparks and smoke, so we abandoned it. (This was all done by the delivery guy who is also getting to the eng of his teather with this saga!)
It was left that the garage will come and recover it this morning and drop me off a courtesy car.
To say I am brassed off is an understatement.
After 14 yrs as a childminder, and never taking one day off sick in all those years. I am now getting a reputation as being unreliable. I NEED 7 seats to do my job. Parents are getting fed up of me trying to re-arrange collections/drop offs on different days due to my not having enough seats. (My school run is not walkable unfortunately.)
I appreciate this could just be a simple fix, but they had the car for 5 weeks. I had to 'make do' for 5 weeks. I get the car back on the firiday, and by monday it's off the road again.
A very cross YL.
