    Tin whistle sounds good..................

Not at the bloody moment, it doesn't. I've been co-opted into teaching him how to play the damn thing as I played various wind and brass instruments as a kid before discovering that things wot plug into an amplifier look and sound sooo much cooler.

This is the man who, as a wide eyed six year old, couldn't get a sound out of an old wooden recorder first time, so burst into tears and ran out of the school club and never went back because all the girls had brand new plastic Hohners that didn't have that problem, only deciding to learn the guitar by himself as a teenager because the entire experience put him off music for years . I, however, had been torturing the neighbours with my sister's old wooden descant since the age of two, so found it easy. So far, we've got as far as how to hold the thing and to make a Tu Tu Tu breath to get a sound out of it, rather than blowing. Next will be firming up the embouchure and breath to reach the higher register notes.
I am very glad I have a set of ear filters.

I'd be quite pleased to find a free violin, I think, not that I can play it :rotfl:

I'm pleased, especially as it's about two hundred quid's worth and, going by the pristine condition of the bow and roisin, has never actually been played. But it took until his mate left an hour ago for food to finally arrive. And guess who is going to have to teach Himself how to play that - that's right, the same person who actively dislikes both whistle and violin because they are so high a pitch, they irritate the hell out of her eardrums.

Seems like his mate is going to be around quite a bit over the coming months, as they are recording an album soon. I'm perfectly happy with that, he's welcome - I've just asked for an hour's warning, so I can make sure there's veggie food available.

Have decluttered a load of garden deforestings into the old oven liner that serves as a burner. Didn't anticipate it flaring up quite so much at one point, but I suppose it's been extremely hot and everything's dried up more than usual. Will have at least 2 other stints like that with the roses before long.

Tomorrow will partly consist of having a scan on my hand to see whether there's anything non arthritis related going on in there - but the giant, painful lump/mega ganglion on my wrist decided to burst two nights ago, so I suspect they won't find anything of note.

He can make the bed and do some washing whilst I'm out, when I come back, I'll probably have a look at cleaning the upstairs bathroom as I've just found the Idiot Cat has been trying to earn his keep, going by the trail of individual arachnid legs leading to something resembling a squashed sultana by the bog brush.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Busy, busy day in the end. Toilets and basins S&S'd, bedding changed, washed and dried and bedroom given a good clean. Allotment visited, fridge full with veg. Dining room dusted and given a not so good clean. 12 jars of plum jam made. Kitchen tidied but needs a good clean, but certainly not tonight.

Well yesterday was an interesting day, involving a filling at the dentist and driving 15 miles to pick up DS and GF who had told me the wrong bus time so I had to go back again.

Day off today to take DS to enrol at college. I was going to have a bit of a lie in this morning so was late to bed but I am awake now so will crack on with some paid stuff. Lots to do.

Pigpen yeah you really appreciate things like that. My Mum in Law has just bought us a new bedroom carpet and a new bed.

And speaking of the new bed it arrives today - after a week of sleeping on a mattress on the floor!!!

Hooray for parents and in laws who are so supportive. I'd have gone under long ago without mine.
A colleague had help buying a car from her mil. Another colleague commented about how she couldn't have accepted that help. And our little 'can't have help' colleague now has 2 days of childcare a week, free, gratis from her mum who minds her TWINS!
    3 x WM. 1 x DW. 1 x TD (boo)

September's cards! Once it was only me...now there are loads and three of them are on two consecutive days. Still, ones mine. I saved the card I got last year from baby sister, little sis has her birthday early in the year and hers was before the diagnosis so she didn't, and that made her sad.

Off to Conisbrough Castle to scope it out and do risk assessment prior to taking 60 kids there the day after my birthday which is my colleague's birthday - as well as the family birthday cluster there's a work one too, three in3 days!

Glad to hear you have a phased rtw planned, roundtuit - that's what I was going to suggest. :)

Thank you greent. Just two mornings next week with no phones; then five mornings the following week with phones; then back to full time. It seems do-able (and means I won't be at work on Tuesday when the Tour of GB cycle race comes past my front door, I'll be out there waving my Union Jack :T ) Everyone at HO was supportive yesterday; unfortunately I don't work there but in a 'satellite' office; I'll give it a go.

So... I need to crack on with the flying and build on the baby steps I've already taken as it helps make life so much easier when pots are washed, and clothes put away in drawers.:o. I found I got more done when I was working in 15 minutes MADs, so I'm going back to that today. Dailies first.

Hope everyone has a good day

Been to the bank to pay in PTA money. Attempt at fraud spotted and dealt with by eagle-eyed teller (I had accidentally recorded full bags of 20p coins as being £20 when they are £10 lol) - (and (just-in-case) this is a joke comment - was a mistake not an attempt to defraud bank!))

    Also been to Savers

DD "If you go to savers can you get me one of these" (hands over empty tube of face cream - so I can select exact match)
Valli "I'm not going to Savers"
DD "You ALWAYS go to Savers"
Valli *realises needs to go to Savers*

and thus I have been to savers. I :heartsmil Savers.

And am wearing some of my own jeans from storage! Size 12 *glow*
