What do you mean by training?  I have had 2 items to send and have received 2 items myself.  I have been using the app to log my items.  Had a bit of a game with logging the post box I used to post but got it sorted in the end. Have been registered with them for ages, but have only started doing it.  Being at home makes it easier to monitor the time the items arrive.
Training is when all the items you send go to the same address, and all the ones you receive have cardboard rather than real RFIDs. So that people can practice and demonstrate they know that they're doing before going on the live survey. People normally get put on  a training stint after each time they've been rested as a refresher.
Although given some of the ways people send things, it's a moot point as to how much notice they take of what they should be doing.
Yes, the 2 items I had to send both went the same address and they came with RFIDs, I have got one in a plastic sleeve as well.

  • Is there any way to report a postboxes that are not getting collected? I know you can confirm if the 'last collection time' is correct on the postbox, but what about if the day is completely off? I've sometimes posted items on, say, Monday, and the day is still on the previous Thursday, for example ... so assuming the postman hasn't come to empty it for 5 days, which would make sense as to why every other item of mine is getting flagged recently.

Also is the day displayed on the postbox bar thingy, the day of the next collection, or the day that the last collection took place?

I find that with one postbox, it is being emptied but they don't always change the day tab when they do the last collection. I can always tell if it's been emptied or not though because of the sound and how far things drop when you post them in. You can tell if it's empty or not.
They change it when they do the last collection (according to the time on the box) to the next day - or are meant to, anyway. So for mine as the last collection is 9am, they will change it when they do that collection to the next day.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The day plate should be the day of the next collection.  In my local box sometimes they get jammed stuck until someone takes the time to put it right.
In the past I think TNS may have asked about the day being displayed but obviously do not do so now.

Like elsien I find I can normally tell whether there are many items in awaiting collection - not 100% reliable to simply use the sound made but it is a popular box (is an NHS priority one, on a corner, near a nursing home).

Thank you for confirming, I go by sound too, just wanted to check if there was anything further I could do to bring up the issue with TNS, as it's been pretty bad recently.

I am certain at this point that this one particular postbox on my street is only being collected every 5 days or so, and I am undecided between continuing to use it, so the issue is highlighted by TNS, or walking out further to another box, so I don't get so many queries to resolve!

Feel bad for anyone in my area using this box for their 1st class post! :#

But isnt that the point of the survey,to highlight when collections are not taking place.
The easiest way to "report" the box is to use it...log that you have posted and if it fails the timescale checks that are subesquently done then thats RM fault/

The post box on my road always shows Thursday as the collection day. I suspect they often miss it off their round as I get so many queries from it, I now only use it for posting survey mail.

hi I received some letters this week. I have entered all the details on the app, what do I do with the letters? do I bin them or are we suppose to keep them for any length of time in case of a query? I have removed the RFID's from them. I am still on training.
    many thanks

    Bin them.
I keep a record of the R numbers if I think there might be a query such as when they ask if I'm sure about the RFID number (or when I can't remember what day they arrived), but if I know I've logged them correctly I don't bother hanging on to them. If I get a query for those, I just confirm the details as entered were correct.

Do the "SECRET AGENT/SPY TRICK or PARANOID Person" test ....

..... you know - the hair across the door to check if it's been opened

The very nearest post box to me (100 yards away) is a 9 am collection - when I was on the survey last year it was sometimes (very occasionally) rather handy to use this box despite the fact that I could easily use maybe up to at least 12 others within little more than a 5 or 6 minute walk away.

I would pass this nearest post box probably once or twice a day (almost every day - sometimes many more times a day)  but later in the afternoon or early evening.
I started wedging a VERY small piece of aluminium in the door (can't remember now if it was a piece of foil folded several times or a bit snipped from a can of beer/cola.
Whatever it was I would push it in the gap between the post box door and the opening somewhere very low down at the bottom of the opening edge such that it would end up on the ground if the door has been opened.

Over the period of a few weeks I was able to determine a few things .....
YES it was emptied EVERY day (except Sunday) but never more than once
It was ALMOST never ever emptied before noon - it generally being done between 13:00 and 14:00 - although occasionally it would be after 16:00.
AND   ...  CAN I use this post box for a "TODAY - 9 am last collection" when it is already 11:15  ????????????

IF I had put the aluminium in place when passing at 17:00 the night before and it was still there  = BINGO
On the floor = postman has had an "early" visitation

It was small enough and in a position that I can't imagine that anyone let alone the postie ever noticed it before, during or after its dislodgement.
Having said that because I knew exactly what I was looking for and where it should be, I could check for its absence (and if necessary then look for it on the ground and replace) without getting out of my car but by just pulling up alongside.
