  • Sorry you're in pain Redo, that must be very difficult to deal with. Have you tried the app that One Broke Lady uses?

Hi redo, sorry to hear you're still not feeling great. :(

All of the cats I've had have loved bleach! Apparently there's something in it that attracts them. My big cat rolls around like SA's cat wherever we use bleach so I have to be careful to make sure it's wiped up and/or well diluted. Have visions of him bleaching his fur.:rotfl:

Sorry you are unwell Redo. Not bored at all. You are one of the least whiny people on here.

Thanks HHOD, Sashybo and DIA. Just got to keep my head down and batter on. We both hate the lack of answers and the lack of control.

I left my laptop open and unattended so I now have a non functioning backspace key as well as a broken delete key. V irritating, especially as I am prone to typos. Not sure if it is fixable.

Right, positives. Pay day came and we managed a small overpayment down to a round number. The balance of the holiday cottage is due, my medical bills, and car insurance all have to be paid this month so things will be tight so that I minimise dipping into the savings.

    Food:
Trying to eat properly in case it helps.

Saturday we had a huge green salad, topped with chicken kebab style

Sunday we had beef with lots of veg. Carrots, oven roasted and then glazed with orange juice and butter. Peeled, inch chunks, half an hour in the oven. Then into a pan with a knob of butter and a splash of orange juice on low for a couple of minutes. Broccoli and spring greens cooked, and then added a simple olive oil and lemon dressing. Even I will eat nasty broccoli like that.

Yesterday we had salmon and pepper tray bake, with pineapple salsa

From my desk I can see the front garden, which is why I choose to sit in the untidy dining room of doom rather than the nice study. Today I have watched the Stupid Pigeons again build a nest in the elderly wisteria that adorns the front of the house. The wisteria is also a cat climbing frame, multi cat soft play and occasional sleeping area for he who is cute but brainless, The Stupid Pigeons did the same thing last year, hence the name. Every cat has at some point today sat and crooned lovingly from the window ledge at them. They have nested higher up this year at least.

Dinner tonight is Lancashire hot pot (half price lamb neck fillets from Ocado) with lots of green veg again. Broad beans, peas in their pods and spring greens all in flash sale on delivery.
  • It sounds like a lovely view from your dining room, very peaceful, and entertaining with the cats vs pigeons standoff :D.

Still battering on, gently, with visible wincing. Fingers crossed for some answers this week. Need to ring GP this morning and make sure the hospital have actually sent the scans through to him in case the specialist says, nah, not my area.

Eating properly with many vegetables has continued and we have added some new recipes to the collection. I am quite liking the oven roasted chunky carrots, this time with a drizzle of honey and then some sesame seeds ten minutes before they need to be served. I have some salmon out defrosting for tonight, with a vague plan for something classical involving new potatoes and lots of green veg which will be more welcome than salad in this delightful weather.

I waded back to the house from dropping the boys off, only to have to wade back to the car for my work phone. Its really rather wet out there. I feel sorry for anyone doing bins, deliveries, lollipop duty, etc. Vaguely guilty as Amzn are bringing cat food, and Ocdo human food today.

Need to sort parking and print tickets for a little outing to the NEC later in the week. Really don't feel up to it but I am sure I will be fine once I am there. Parking is nearly as much as the tickets!

I'd suggest that eating a good and varied range of fruit and veg can only be a good thing, and even if it has no direct effect on your current situation, it will certainly help with the bigger picture, so keep going with the lovely sounding food! (And keep posting about it too, she drools...) Carrots are nice cooked in a pan with a little orange juice too - I must try oven roasting them first as you said though - that sounds scrummy. MrEH insists that they are "not food" though so making a fuss of them just for myself always seems a bit pointless.

  • I agree with EH about the importance of eating healthy food for general health and energy purposes. I like oven roasted carrots too :). I also love sweet potato and parsnip mash although we can't be bothered to make it very often. Vegetables can be very tasty.

A week gone and I cant even remember what I did with the salmon. I think oven roasted with peas, new potatoes and mint, a highly rated on Good Food recipe that we were not that keen on.

Since them I have made quite a few chubbycubs and pinch of nom recipes. Any other recommendations for SW friendly recipe sites would be very welcome.

Yesterday we had dirty cajun rice (chubby cubs), after the standard roast beef and lots of veg that is the sunday default. Saturday was lamb mince kebabs, without the pitta breads and with the inevitable tedious salad mountain. Tonight is pinch of noms chicken fajita pasta. I don't like pasta and it doesnt like me much either but everyone else eats it with enthusiasm.

The microwave blew up again, despite my using lids, leaving the door open to dry after use and keeping the blasted thing clean. Cant fault Argos, FOC replacement for the second time, even though original purchase was over a year ago. Then this morning the toaster blew up. Its me clearly. Hope nothing expensive breaks.

Finances are a bit meh, thanks to some regular bills and the things I moaned about previously. At least I have the money stashed away rather than I am trying to magic it up from nowhere.
