I'm hoping that all the new tech they put in cars will lead to predictive maintenance so the car can realise it needs work in a week or so, check my diary, book itself in for the work, let me know it has done it and arrange for itself to be collected and returned :) Then I might start liking cars and thinking they were worth the vast amount of money they make disappear.

If it could do all of the above, AND pay for the repairs itself as well, that would be even more wonderful! :rotfl:

Particularly if it has charged itself up from your solar panels during the day so is running on free electricity :) I've got it all worked out, just need someone to hurry up and produce one that does all this and that I can afford!
  • Well done on paying for the car with actual money and not finance Redo, although I understand your trauma about parting with savings.

I expect the gardening was therapeutic, but I find it exhausting :).

If they can manage the technology that lets it park itself, and to drive itself in stop start traffic, then surely self healing isn't too much to ask for?

Lots of gardening done in the lovely sunshine, many things planted (kindly gifted by my generous gardener parent) around the toasty hot cats who had collapsed in exhausted puddles everywhere.

I also tidied the freezer, which generated some random 'use it up' meals. Kebabs - forgotten how good HM pitta bread are. Garlic pork and spring greens yesterday. Its cold again now, so sausages, mash and cabbage for dinner tonight.

Self-healing seems to be as elusive as artificial intelligence... apparently we can do both, but nothing that is currently available is particularly impressive.

I do think some of the people behind this tech should be listening to people like us though. Maybe I should change sector? ☺️

Hope the cats have recovered and the garden is looking good.

Your food sounds delicious. I turned the remains of Sunday’s roast chicken and veg into a surprisingly good soup. The same with yesterday’s roast lamb. Today I’m back on BNS.

Payday shuffle, hurrah. Hopefully can feed some of the sadly depleted pots. £30 car tax refund, which is better than nothing.

Savings or mortgage OPs? I might have to reverse the 80/20 split this month. hate the idea of not making some sort of over payment at least.

I love a payday shuffle. Or in my case highlighting cells in my mammoth spreadsheet....The fact that I have a spreadsheet that sets out the next 5 years so I know what is going out etc is irrelevant. It's still nice colouring things in.

Obviously the 5 year forecast will undoubtedly change with pay rises and job changes, house moves and babies which all could/will happen in that time frame but it sets a good baseline....here's where I could be if it all stays the same.

I used to run a spreadsheet starmummy, especially when we had scary cash flow issues. I also used to track all spends that way. Everything went when I started this full time project. Nine months into a three months role and I am a neglected mess, the house is a horrid mess but our finances have never been healthier.

We still agree what we are aiming for, but there is less focus on the detail. That will come back when this thing finishes.

    Financials
    1. Sorted out the broadband renewal, quick phone call and continuation of existing good deal but faster speed. Happy with that, not willing to change after last time so better deal from current provider was best option
    2. Made small rounding over payment on mortgage. Really wanted to do more but I also need to rebuild the savings.
    3. Was late back and did the lazy easy visit to marks and spensive and spent £20 on lazy easy things. And evil biscuits. The only positive is that one of those things was a whole chicken inna tray to shove in the oven which sorts a few meals

    Me
    1. I actually ate some chicken and salad. And evil biscuits
    2. I am still making sure that whatever else happens I have my nightly bath and read.
    3. I looked at cashmere when I was cold but didn't buy anything. I am not allowed to look at jumpers when I am cold. Its like food shopping when you are hungry.
    4. Frittered £5 on a cat tunnel bed in B&M. The cats love the box it came in and have been fighting to sleep in it ever since.

Need to sort PE kits, packed lunches, animals and then find something to read in the bath. Murder on the orient express I think, and some of the nice lemongrass and ginger bath oil.
