Is your copy of Venetia the 1970s Pan one?

No, that one went for a swim in the bath :o mine is a modern reprint, plus I have a £1.99 copy on kindle.

Dinner tonight was variations on meatballs/pasta/courgette ribbons which reminded me of just how much washing up proper cooking generates. Anyway it was popular with the natives, and the DW takes most of the strain.

Weather is a bit grim, but the good news is that the rotten tree has left the garden :)

If you wear them every day then five pairs sounds fine to me. You get good use out of them. It's things you don't wear that are wasteful :).

I'm definitely going to wear them out given that the first pair are starting to disintegrate on the thumbs  the new ones came today but I have stashed them away till I need them.

I think colour co-ordinated wrist warmers sound great and very stylish redo! I have a lovely red and black plaid woollen scarf from Johnstone's of Elgin which one of my favourites.

Good news on the tree. Lucky old you to be able to pick flowers from your garden!

They are certainly nicer than the black fingerless gloves which are the alternative Seaside.

I've always wanted to do a 'cutting garden' and to actually have some taste and ability when it comes to arranging flowers. Maybe one day when I have more time. Actually I have quite a few sprinkle on mixed flower seed selections (10p at the end of last season) which I will be using as a filler for the empty spaces, and that may generate a cutting patch.

Today I have been planting the March seeds, mix of flowers and veg. I also put the panels back in the greenhouse which was probably a waste of time given the high winds, but was much appreciated by evil former stray who likes snoozing in there away from the rest of the cats.

Spending on: two pairs of my preferred sheepskin lined boots. They dropped on Amzn to an unusually low price, so I spent my birthday money. I would buy them at full price if I had to so a sensible investment.
Not spending on: while I was on I noticed another two month free trial of kindle unlimited on the kindle books page so I snapped that up. I've had the free trials before, this one just said can't be current subscriber. You can cancel it immediately and still get the two months free which is good if you forget to do things like me.
Finances: moved cash into the high interest donor account, need to work out two easy direct debits to move but I don't actually have that many so not that simple.
Reading: still Twilight series in the bath, and Patricia Wentworth on the kindle.
Eating: curry yesterday, had forgotten how much chicken is improved in texture if you pre-soak the cubes in natural yoghurt for an hour. I also cobbled together an oven roasted potato/cauliflower curry which worked well, I don't like wet cauliflower.

Hope everyone is doing ok, lots of regulars not Updating dairies at the moment which is understandable but frustrating when you are as nosy as I am :o

  • Sheepskin lined boots sound lovely and warm, definitely a good idea to invest in them whilst they're reduced :T. The kindle trial sounds good too bearing in mind you can cancel straight away :T.

Nice to be able to cut your own flowers than rather buy ones in the shops that have been flown in from South Africa (or wherever cut flowers come from :rotfl:).

I'm far too [STRIKE]mean [/STRIKE]careful with my money to buy cut flowers. I used to buy flowers at £2/3 with the weekly shop, but stopped when the money famine hit. I'd rather save the cash now if there is some to spare. I do miss them so want to find a frugal option, Daffodils from the garden at the moment, and I have some sweet peas in ready to plant out later.

Boots arrived, and one pair is going back as I'm 'ok' with the colour rather than love it. I must pack them up and drop them off on my way out later, or they will stay by default. I am rubbish at returns :o

Finally got my refund from Outfox for the credit balance on my electric, amazing what going via Resolver did that direct contact didn't manage.

I've been using the Resolver tool for my PPI claims. Not been successful as yet with the CCs but tbh I didn't think I had PPI with them anyway - just making sure before the deadline hits. V. impressed with the tool though! Took all the hard work away in writing upteen letters!

Seaside, I'd have probably not got round to it if it wasn't so simple to use.

Since I last posted spring seems to have arrived for the garden. Lots of flowering things and new growth. Seedlings are doing nicely too. Pansy pots on the drive wall are filling out beautifully for the few pennies they cost. The pots themselves came from the Woolworths clearance at £1 per pot which gives you an idea of how old they are, and the same ivy has been in them for at least eight years. A timely reminder that it doesn't have to be expensive to be effective. I've got some seedlings in a tray ready to replace the pansies when the weather warms up. The green waste bins are nearly full already, and I must remember to put the new 'paid' stickers on them.

Payday for OH tomorrow, need to run my payroll for the end of the week and then do the money shuffle with a view to chipping a bit more off the mortgage. Each tiny overpayment makes the hideous big number a little smaller but I wish I could do the huge numbers some of the people do on MFW.

Fritter of the week was on violet syrup. Liquid palma violets, yum. Smells wonderful.

Spring has definitely sprung these last few days, I love this time of year :)

What's the violet syrup for, sounds lovely?
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
