    Cake looks good :)

We have had greenhouse damage courtesy of our near neighbour who decided to push at a fence post and dislodged part of a dry stone wall....lost 3 panes  Very apologetic and said will help with repair. Leaving it until the weather improves. Unfortunately wall will need extensive repair as it has 'gone' from the bottom - OH use to earn a living from dry stone walling..........he isnt very happy though!

How annoying Igamogam. I lost some glass some years ago thanks to a mysterious spontaneous combustion incident (Rugby ball) which I replaced with hard plastic sheets. It's those panels that inevitably blow out so it's easy enough to put them back in. Easier than clearing up broken glass at least.

We have lovely dry stone walls too. If the tree comes down that is probably what it will hit.

A little gardening has happened. The garden ready plants came from T&M, much better size wise than the plugs I have had before. Sweet peas and tomatoes have germinated, and I have had a go at propagating some house leeks as they work well in the garden walls. Green waste bins are already full again. Picked some daffodils for a vase in the kitchen. Little things that make me smile. I want to shift some more snowdrops round, need them in places that can be seen from the house in winter.

Food wise I managed a trip to a wholesale butchers, so the freezer is fairly full. Concentrated effort to eat as I should to see if that is part of the not recovering from the infection issue.

Eating: lazy pre cooked ribs - improved dramatically by smearing them with homemade chilli jam with lots of star anise half way through cooking. Lots of green stuff *shudders*
Reading: Twilight in the bath, 99p Patricia wentworth on the Kindle. I notice Georgette Heyer Venetia was 99p, one of my favourite books ever.
    Using up: vegetables, wisely.
Spending: bulk buy in the butchers.
House: mostly garden rather than house progress, major renovation of shrubs continues. Either removal for diseased, or third out for neglected but wanted.

Well done on achieving so much.

Far to cold and windy here to do gardening, although I still have half the hedge to remove ivy from, my bare root shrubs and all my hellebores and primulas to plant!
  • Well done on the gardening Redo :T. I absolutely love dry stone walls.

Venetia is one of my favourite books too, I always wanted to be as well read as her but I am definitely not even close :rotfl:.

Venetia is one of my favourites too. Read so often in the bath it's only just holding together!

I'm on a well read copy too.its a regular re read for me.

The usual Sunday of chores, laundry, ironing. Snow and sleet and hailstones meant I wasn't even tempted to go outside,

Eating: roast chicken and veg for dinner, Thai style salad for lunch. Far too many vegetables.
Using up: nothing much beyond gazillians of nasty vegetables
Reading: Christopher Lloyd in the bath, miss silver in bed
    Resisted: buying more plants online
Spent: cat food ordered so I don't have to go out.

Anyone like to take a guess at my guilty purchase today?

That's right, I am the Imelda whatsherface of wristwarmers. I blame the popular auction site who sent me a £5 off a £10 spend. They will go into the present drawer until I need them.
  • How many wrist warmers do you own now Redo? :rotfl: :rotfl:.

I can't believe people are getting snow and hail . We had sunshine today although it was a cold wind, but then it started pouring with rain around 4pm.

We woke up to a thin layer of snow which was unexpected. Better than the awful winds others have had.

Five pairs, including the new ones- 4 lovely thin Johnstones of Elgin ones and 1 thick felted turtle doves pair with an itchy label. I do wear them every day September to June but it's still excessive I know. Colour co ordinated for outfits, as if that makes it any better.
  • If you wear them every day then five pairs sounds fine to me. You get good use out of them. It's things you don't wear that are wasteful :).

Is your copy of Venetia the 1970s Pan one?

I've got a package to send off to turtle doves. I gave my mum a pair of their wrist warmers for christmas as she loves them, so I thought I should start trading in my unwanted cashmere. Then she can be colour-coordinated too :)
