  • Happy belated birthday wishes redo! I hope you're feeling a bit brighter today.

Re. the phone - I have a horror of long lock in mobile phone contracts - I tend to wait until my phone finally dies and then buy the next to latest model which works out quite a bit cheaper. Currently I'm on a month's rolling contract with O2 with free texts, unlimited calls and lots of data - works out just over £14 per month at the moment. I can also buy bolt-ons for when I go abroad. There's bound to be better deals out there but this suits me at the moment.

  • I'm on PAYG with O2 and for £10 a month I get 5,000 texts, 2GB of data and 500 minutes of talk time which I think is quite good. I'd hate to be tied in to a contract too.

  • Another one here who's not a fan of contracts these days. Having said that my SIM only EE deal is a butchered version of one of their regular contracts as when I threatened to leave to go to PlusNet on their at-the-time extremely good £10 offer a few years ago, there was nothing EE had that was comparable, so the sales chap on the phone hacked a contract to suit me and just turned it into a SIM only deal. :rotfl: Unlimited minutes and texts, 4gb superfast 4G data, lots of other oddments thrown in as well and a bit under £13 per month means I can't even get the will to call them and haggle at the moment! :rotfl:

Sorry to hear that the short month was long in your world Redo - but glad that you had a reasonable birthday, even if not the best.

  • Here here on avoiding mobile contracts!

I'm with EE on a one month rolling SIM only deal (I spouted off the 12 month SIM only plan last year). I'm still using my 4 year old iPhone from the original EE contract and I pay £6.64 per month for unlimited minutes and texts and 6GB of data. I'm with EE for broadband too (just renewed for a further 18 months) so I always play them off against one another as a means to get a good deal :)

    Hope you're feeling better Redo!

Giff gaff goody bags for me now, I mostly use data. None of the networks have great cover in the house/village which doesn't help.

February ended with one final blip, a new fan belt on my car. Couldn't be helped but glad the month is over.

That said, March has just started with a spend - £48 to renew my (two) green waste bins collection. Must make sure these are fully utilised, every time.

Email from Bulb to say they have reduced costs, so £42 less per year. I'm impressed with them so far. Still haven't had my refund from the cheeky foxes though.

Remembered to claim the cashback on the new WM, and that should arrive shortly.

Daily interest on the mortgage now stands at £10.08. Ouch. I just made a large rounding down payment again, on the basis of no council tax this month. Lets hope we have less unplanned spending.

There is a challenge over on MFWs to pay off 1% of your outstanding mortgage balance this year. Today's payment takes me to 0.89% paid off which I am pleased with.

Temptation and spending this morning! A planned visit to Ldl for a telescopic pruner for the out of control fruit trees, which led to a further £10 spend in the garden - £4 for two stainless steel trowels and a hard lidded mini propagator set that can take the inevitable cat snoozing on top, and down the sides as she overflows.

Is it just me who constantly loses trowels? Anyway, £2 each for nice stainless steels ones is ridiculous. Fortunately none of the live plants had prices marked so that was easy to resist.

Then T&M have a free P&P weekend so I have ordered 60 dianthus for £12, and 10 strawberry plants for £10. Whoops.

I did resist a cardigan, even though I was cold.

Hope everyone else is ok with the weather. I've had some greenhouse damage so far, fingers crossed the rotten tree survives the night.

Does the propagator come with lights? Otherwise your seedlings may be a bit light-deprived, even if they're being kept nice and warm by all that fluff ;)

Hope the greenhouse damage is repairable and the tree stays where it should.
  • I hope your tree survives the wind and the greenhouse doesn't take off  It's still quite windy today where I am.

The tree survived, and the greenhouse is repairable. I'm bored of chasing for an update on the tree but I have done so. Again.

Pancakes made, which made the boys happy. I also made a single layer of this lemon and almond cake which made a dense pudding type cake. Didn't ice it but I did make some lemon curd to eat with it.

Spends on F&V, eggs and sparkling water.
