I know, but I make worlds worst banana bread. Like a lump of lead. There are protests when I make it, and even the birds won't eat it. Muffins and banana bread are my cooking failures
I usually freeze them, without skins. Hide the odd one in place of an egg in fruit cake or carrot cake, or use them in smoothies. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Hurrah for outsourcing - I am going to have to do the same if I am ever going to get to use the garden. Though was not very impressed with the last one, so am thinking of getting quotes from other local services for some kind of regular upkeep.
Am guessing you've already discovered this place for seeds... ? Really impressed with what I've had from them.

No, not seen that site but it looks good. Some lovely sounding tomatoes
We had a long discussion about could we do it ourselves, yes. Did we actually want to do it? No, not and spend hours taking all of the green waste away. This way the worst of the mess has gone, and I've got a blank canvas with a few key structural things left. V motivating. Sourced via CheckatradeSeasidegal58 wrote: »

I spent all of the spare cash on the big mortgage overpayment, and have funded the garden contractor from savings. Cleaning will have to wait until March.
Feeling a bit better, but half an hour pottering in the polytunnel was enough to make me realise this is going to be a slow recovery. I showed some cherry toms, sweet peas and a sprinkle of salad leaves as it's lovely and warm in the tunnel. It's pennies wasted if nothing comes up. Found some leftover cress and Kohl Rabi seed too.
OH did some extensive pruning of the ancient and mostly rotten fruit trees, and the boys broke the bits down for the jam packed full green waste bins. The whole space is much brighter and lighter now.
Eating: fish and chips
Reading: Titchmarsh Gardeners Year, Nella Last in the bath, and more Patricia Wentworth on the kindle.
House: huge improvements in the garden
Used up: free sweet pea seeds from last year, I rarely grow flowers from seed
Bought: currently resisting plants. £50 for a specialist hellebore! I'm happy with my self seeded Heinz 57s. Any recommendations for good value sellers of plants welcomed. I've got about 20 square meters of empty borders...My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
