  • Actually slept better last night which has helped with the general morning aches. I do keep the key bits of the house clean and clear - kitchen and bathrooms. I refuse to even make toast in the mess of last nights meal so always on top of that. I do the bathroom quick clean every night while the bath is running as again I find it detracts from the bath if its a messy room. Have to hoover the house of many animals daily.

The bigger issue for me is the sheer volume of stuff everywhere, and as far as OH is concerned that is non-negotiable. He doesn't leave things around as such, just that he fills every available space with things and I hate clutter. More storage just means his stuff expands to fill it.

The boys rarely leave stuff outside their rooms, and they 'do' their bedrooms on a Saturday or no pocket money. They will empty the DW (badly) or hoover (badly) too.
  • I feel your pain. The other occupants here have a need to fill any space I clear when I declutter. It's infuriating
Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Progress not perfection.:T100%through my 1% mortgage challenge. 100% through my pb challenge.
  • My OH is the same... He just sort of spreads his things around. He does hoover whenever I ask though (and does a relatively good job of it - not perfect mind!) I like to have as little "stuff" out as possible. I find i can't relax where well if theres things around that aren't in the right place.

Currently have a box of half newspaper wrapped kitchen stuff in the middle of our bedroom floor and it's making me  First thing I saw when I woke up and it keeps winking at me out the corner of my eye :rotfl:

Really hope the aches and pains alleviate themselves a bit :(
    Total Debt : ?? / ??
  • Why do men need to hoard things? I know some women do as well, but it tends to be more sentimental type objects. The former men in my life had a thing about paper - keeping every available piece whether it was valid/useful or not! Though from what I glean these days, bits of cable and old computer stuff seems to be the main bug-bear.

Hope you're feeling better today redo.

  • Mine has tools, more tools, craft stuff, camping stuff, more tools and motorcycle stuff. It's all useful stuff, and in fairly regular use but it's the sheer volume and the bit where he thinks they are pretty and decorative items that should be left on empty window ledges. I have a thing about empty window ledges making the house look less cluttered. I'm probably deluding myself but it makes me feel better. The cats like to sleep on the nice wide empty window ledges in the sunshine too, and after all their happiness outweighs all other considerations. If stuff is in the way they just knock it off, casually. Yawn, stretch, crash, oops. Snore in wreckage. Blame dogs.

A lot less aches today thanks despite the cold and the rain. Greenbee just said she has snow forecast, which made me check and so do we. Meh!
  • I think cats make a more decorative contribution to window ledges than an old mouldy carburettor!:rotfl:

Snow forecast keeps moving, but it's VERY cold. THinking of switching from logs to coal.

We've also just discovered that the top of the stove is perfect for heating up welshcakes... so no chance of losing weight this winter...

Sounds like you need some space that you can claim as your own where it can be clear and uncluttered. That should help you cope with the rest. Could you negotiate with OH for that to be your bedroom (lots of research saying clear uncluttered bedrooms help you sleep...)?
  • Looking less likely here, but still cold.

Meant to say I got another £1.50 short dated veg box on Saturday from Lidl.

1 Cauliflower, made cauliflower cheese Sunday
4 Peppers, soft ones I chopped and froze, nice ones have been used for crudit!s
2 Aubergines, oven roasted, left to cool then whizzed with oil and lemon juice for dips. OH packed lunches
5 leeks - trimmed them to keep them fresh but then had half with Sunday dinner, half tonight. Saut!ed in a little butter with a grease proof paper lid pressed down on top.
1 stew pack, parsnip and onions roasted with Sunday dinner, carrot and swede used as mash for tonight's cottage pie.

Pleased with that. I need to cobble together a dip for tomorrow's snacks, beetroot and horseradish I think given that I still have pre packs from Aldi super 6 recently.

Well done on the veg box. I'm still relying on deliveries as it stops me spending. And there is less packaging.

Lots of soup being made here - carrot & ginger yesterday, broccoli & cheese today. Tomorrow may well be beetroot (and possibly horseradish).
  • Robot hoover? I love mine - it keeps the 'middles' sorted and minimises the kitchen floor mess and the bits of leaf etc the mogs tramp in. I don't run it while out of the house, but it gets on with pootling about while I am working.
