I now have a cleaning service in once a fortnight. I specify the areas and then bundle stuff away elsewhere if needs be. They do hall stairs landings bathroom shower room kitchen dining room sitting and living room. I knew the owner before she set up the business which makes a big difference. I love the difference it makes.

Redo I have been trying to catch up with your diary in recent days . It seems you are working very hard , so I hope you get to the end of your project with some satisfaction on a job well done.

I am so pleased that someone else reads in the bath, I do most nights and the water turns cold I am there that long.

Bite the bullet and get a cleaner if it helps you out. As for no cheese that's completely disgraceful!

    Have a good weekend.

  • Seasidegal, I hate to admit it but there is no cheese, not even grated in the freezer. Out of cheese error! That never happens either.

What! No cheese! If I had an emoji I could use that looked like Munch's "The Scream" I would use it!

As far as the cleaners go, block some WFH time and cite 'appointments' as reason not to change, then get them to quote. You may have to let them let themselves in if you want a regular clean.

As for the mess, get them to quote for the areas that are important to you and that you think you can keep tidy enough to make it worthwhile - even if just by shoving everyone else's stuff into bags/boxes/crates and into their rooms (or the bin) the night before.

And make sure you get first bath after they've been...

.....and you know this makes sense don't you?:D

This and this Redo. Book that cleaning service while you're still sane :rotfl:. I hope the project ends eventually, but think of the money :money:.

  • Gritting teeth and thinking of the money is getting me through, but my body is slowly letting me down. Running out of random aches now, and the tennis elbow/dislocating right thumb are back with a vengeance. Where does it hurt gets a rousing chorus of 'head, shoulders, knees and toes'! Good old fibro, the gift that never stops giving.

A speedy day, microwave died again, clearly they are not designed as cat beds. Argos replaced without a murmur but while I was in I finally replaced the leaking Russell Hobbs kettle, and got the boy a new calculator for his maths mocks as his broke. Again. This time I bought a spare and will hide it in the present drawer. New kettle is much quieter and does not scald hands when filling hot water bottles which is a bonus obviously :). I do love my hot water bottle collection, helps with the aches and means I get out of warm bath and into warm bed.

    Nearly bath time :j.
  • I'm glad hot water bottles help with the aches and pains. It must be difficult. I have aches tonight but that's because of Pilates.

Argos customer service is fab :)

Good idea to get cleaners in.

I'm glad it's not just me who reads in the bath. I also listen to Chill Radio (digital station) which is so relaxing, plus I have loads of candles (mainly battery operated). My bathroom is my sanctuary.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I hope your pain levels depress soon,I've had a bad day today but I'm not feeling too bad now, heat is definitely a friend 😊

You need to look after yourself - you'll be no use to anyone if you are broken. Try to take some time off, and also think about what you can do to make your life easier (like getting some help with cleaning - even if it is just the kitchen, bathroom and your bedroom!). Can you get the rest of the family to help more (not with cleaning obviously, but maybe with shopping and cooking etc so that you can deal with the stuff that bothers . you)?

I know work is busy, but is there any way you can take a bit of time out or get some additional support sorted? I'm sure your boss would rather have you alive than half dead...

Lots of baths, lots of epsom salts, and use some of the money to make sure you stay warm. Extra gas (it's a cheap way of heating the house... my oil bill tells me that regularly!) and maybe a few logs as a luxury.

I love my hot water bottles too...
