Thanks Lucifa, that's an interesting idea. I bet you could use it make the cloud 'bread' too. Something to look into once I have some time and energy. I want to try the soaked cashew nut thing that my vegan cookbook is so fond of but as fast as I buy them the boys eat them.
I've not done a meal box, probably a good job as it would have just rotted in the fridge. I did add some pre made salad things to the delivery which I actually ate. I do not like green lentils in salad at all, one to avoid in the future.
Lonely rat the roasted chickpeas are simple, rinse and drain them and dry them off. Teaspoon of oil into a bowl, plus salt, pepper and spice (I used a teaspoon of cumin and one of smoked paprika), then add the chickpeas and stir till coated. 30 minutes at 180. Make sure you shake the half way through or they don't cook evenly. If you leave them in the oven after you have turned it off they dry out more and should last longer. If you use too much oil they explode like popcorn so be mean.
Went to a six form open evening last night, really liked it but it hadn't occurred to me that there would be quite so much cost associated with it. £650 for transport to start with. No uniform but he will need more clothes of the smart casual variety which he really doesn't have. Something I need to plan for. He hates shopping as much as I do and couldn't take any less interest in what he wears. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I was on my annual admire of beauty advent calendars. So easy to self justify, good value, way to try new things, I'm working hard, I deserve it, etc. Instead I have sorted my existing collection. As usual I have at least a years worth of everything. Several years in the case of most things. I like DIAs pamper night idea, and certainly have plenty of things to try out that I needed so much that I had actually forgotten about them.
I did a couple of hours outside this morning, trying to get ready for the forecast cold snap. Logs in ready to use, and the last few courgettes and kohl rabi picked before tomorrow nights frost kills them. There are still a few tomatoes to pick in the tunnel. Everything is shut now, with the odd cat access gap for those who like to snooze in the sunshine out of the wind. I've long since given up the fight and have cat beds on the benches.
Sausages, mash and onion gravy for dinner, perfect comfort stodge on a chilly day.
Next job is to sort and store my summer clothes, and then have a weed of the winter bits. Two black cardigans went, and got replaced by a warm and elegant deep plum hooded long line cashmere cardigan but I want to be ruthless with jumpers now.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Waiting with interest to see the updated jumper numbers...
Keep a couple for gardening, then get rid of all the bobbly/holey ones. Cashmere can go to Turtledoves for recycling (I still have some to send from last year)0 -
I got rid of the bobbly ones etc in the Spring. I'm more looking at colours this time. Two cardigans, 3 jumpers and 4 pairs of black bootleg trousers have made it into the charity shop pile.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I've actually put the clean ironed pile away and exited three more jumpers, and a few high round neck tops as I no longer own any jumpers that work with them. Everything that is left is in reasonable condition/right shape, size and colour/ and is actually worn on a regular basis. Very little black left which feels odd. Every time I do the wardrobe cull I get a little more ruthless.

That sounds like a good session of de-cluttering. There's no point in keeping clothes you don't wear or that don't go with anything. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

The wardrobe blitz and decluttering is great. I have sort of done the same and 3 pairs of trousers have gone as just aren't 'right' and do nothing for me
Well done on gardening. You put me to shame.
You mentioned cashmere gloves on another diary (can't recall which one) that I have now ordered. Thank you
Good to see the reappearance of cat stories again lately

1st of the month time again, money came in, money went out. I've made a small rounding overpayment for the mortgage but have a hefty credit card bill needs paying which takes all the spare cash. I could dip into the savings to clear it but where is the fun in that? It'll be a tight month, and of course we could do with giving some thought at least to Christmas.
The business account is very healthy at least, although not sure how much longer the project has to run.
Is it just me or is it suddenly hideously cold? This is when working from home is expensive. Hot water bottle, wrist warmers, blanket and many layers just not enough. Might have to crack and put the oil radiator thing on. Or the wood burner and work at the Snug table but we are low on logs and buying them is so expensive. No free wood round here sadly, and we burnt all the disposable bits of house ages ago. It's the woohoo bit when you remove a stud wall and find all the lovely dry timber to burn, so not as mad as it sounds.
I might warm myself up by walking down to get some kindling. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

You need to remember that heating the house to work from home is probably cheaper than driving into an office... And it's good for the house to be warm occasionally. So be sensible, as there's also the fact that if you don't keep the house warm enough you'll make yourself ill.
I'm home to do laundry between trips. I have no clue as to the state of my finances or much else right now!0 -
Feeling your WFH and heating woes Redo I seem to manage with thermals and all the other measures you mention until it gets dark and then on with the heating...this works for now but when I'm on sabbatical I will be working in other spaces away from homeIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be.
