Monday, it must be food shopping. The weeks just roll round, on the positive side OH is paid tomorrow but July is an expensive month with autoaid renewal, and car insurances so I need to keep the end of month balance in place rather than sweep to savings.
August cottage booked and paid for from general savings, hate it when money comes out of the savings but this is the pot that pays for things like annual insurances so cash does have to come out sometimes.
Bargain of the day was Bee and M who had RTC FR eggs to 25p/6. Want to make a quiche for packed lunches tomorrow so picked up a dozen of those to join the 15 long dated ones I already had. Hard boiling some for OH at the moment as he happily eats them as a snack from the fridge. Also picked up a whole piri piri marinated chicken half price in Aldee so roasting that to have with salad. Probably should have got more mayo given the planned coleslaw and potato salad this week although I could do the potatoes in a lemon/chive dressing instead.
I got basil/coriander/limes/anchovies and sun dried tomatoes so my week of 'summer eating' should be deliverable without more shopping. Lots of mushrooms too - some big flat ones (super 6) and a 650g punnet of wonkys. Yum!My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I do my coleslaw with oil and either vinegar/lemon juice plus tahini/mustard/anything else I can think of that might be interesting.0

Greenbee, trouble is round these parts if you start adding stuff to it the willing to try it audience shrinks dramatically. I just did grated carrot and a chive/lemon dressing over the potatoes which was nice.
I wouldn't buy the flavoured chicken again, even if RTC, very wet. That said it can't be wasted so into packed lunches and DS1s couscous based dinner.
Tonight we have some RTC lamb steaks marinading in cumin/coriander/harissa and lemon. They will be pan fried, sliced and served with some spiced couscous and my interpretation of this delia roast pepper dish.
I've spent most of today sunbathing with my kindle so not a huge amount done.I couldn't find the suncream but used up some factor 30 murad sunblock from my skincare stash instead.

I'm in cooking nerd heaven. I just found that the bbc iplayer has the original Delia Smith Complete Cookery Course to wach online. I have my maternal grandmothers copy of the book, and I remember watching them with my mum. Happy days. I've run out of ironing as a resultMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Can send ironing...
Plans here somewhat scuppered by a. WM filter being blocked and I can't undo it and b. bedframes I need to take apart being put together too well so I can't.
Not sure where my mum is going to sleep this weekend. And I think a friend has invited herself to stay as well... Everyone will have to be helpful0 -

I have my mum's copy - I was sent to uni with it and remember an American flatmate being absolutely fascinated and bemused by it :rotfl:Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

I've spent three hours decluttering and cleaning DS2s revolting bedroom which he allegedly clears and wipes each week. Big charity shop pile of books and outgrown clothes ready to go, half a bin of recycling and a mental note to stop buying him anything, ever.
Plugged the rubbish dyson in in DS1s bedroom and realised how much worse his is
I generally avoid their bedrooms. Big mistake clearly.
I deserve a reward and some pocket money and a large glass of wine and a tabby kitten called Spike (not that I have put much thought into that one). I need a star chart. I stopped doing Flylady properly when Toots stopped doing the star charts.

A productive trip out this morning, and a car load of stuff dropped off at the hospice shop. Lots of outgrown boy clothes, childrens books and recipe books gone. The under the stairs cupboard gloriously empty as a result
I haven't done DS1s room yet - need full bio suit for that I think - but I did his bookcase as I knew that would generate a few bag loads of charity shop stuff.
What was lovely was the enthusiasm and appreciation of the people at the donations bit of the hospice, far more positive an experience than struggling through the shopping centre carrying heavy bags to be barely acknowledged by the shop staff.
While I was over that way I nipped into the big stupidmarket and picked up some school trousers. With two weeks to go DS2 has had a huge growth spurt and is showing shameful amounts of ankle, and DS1 split a pair of his. Can't be helped. Not sure DS1s shoes will make it to the end either. Haircuts tonight too so an expensive boy day.
Need to make myself do some business bits, pay a tax bill, and see if there is anything left to trickle pay to me.
Two x £10 SB vouchers ordered, the double up MSE points finally arrived. Its not a huge amount but better than nothing at all I suppose.
Chicken cubes out and defrosting for dinner. Green thai curry maybe, or chicken and creamy mushrooms, or hairy dieters sticky chicken with coleslaw. Lots of options, little enthusiasm. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Well done on more de-cluttering and the beautifully clear Glory Hole under the stairs!:rotfl:

Seaside Its been very hot here too, I'm jealous of HHODs rain actually. Lots of plants are giving up and the lawns are brown and crispy. Even the nettles are drooping. Too hot to garden so my efforts have mostly been bits of watering.
I did harvest some more baby courgettes today, and a sneaky first pea pod and a broad bean pod. All nice and tasty. The peas taste so much better fresh like that. My raspberries are finally starting to ripen, but the birds stripped the cherry tree again so no cherries this year. Potatoes should be ready soon, love home grown new potatoes.
Read an article about salad shortages due to the heat stopping growth, which is probably why my latest lot haven't germinated. Tidied up the current patch in the hope of keeping it productive a little longer, it has generated a lot of salad bowls for 50p worth of seeds last year.
I used the baby courgettes to make a courgette, pine nut and sultana salad. I liked it, OH less keen so I need to rethink that one. It used up some OOD pine nuts anyway. Our visitors turned up today so lots of salad stuff and cold meat. It made sorting packed lunches easy at least.
OH did a trial fitting of the new bathroom cabinet and it looks far better than I expected, good proportions for the room so I am upgrading that from 'it'll do' to 'quite like it'.
I bought a replacement curtain rail for the broken one in DS1s bedroom. I can't remember quite how long he has had his curtains stuck to the pelmet with drawing pins forWe haven't had time to fit it yet but mister resistant to change is still recovering from the trauma of the bedroom clear out. I don't want to stress him out too much after all.
Where has the week gone again? Monday and food shopping tomorrow. I've nearly run out of olive oil so an expensive start to the list, even in MrL. Mortgage goes out in the morning and then I can make a rounding up over payment. Its the little steps that make me feel like we are getting there, chipping away at it a few pounds at a time. And looking backwards and realising we have paid over a third off now since we took it out despite the famine patches. Its still big and scary, but it used to be huge and ugly!My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
