We had to fit one in the last house and it made a huge difference HHOD so I will always fit one going forward. Challenge here is very thick stone walls so it isn't a simple drill through.
Last night we had sausages, egg, chips and beans for dinner. No surprises really but I don't like them. Instead I cobbled together a mushroom dish.
Flat mushrooms (or halved normal ones if thats what you have) with a sprinkle of olive oil into a gratin dish. Ten minutes in the oven and then add a sprinkle of nutmeg (or garlic or garlic powder) a handful of grated strong cheese and the dregs of a pot of double cream. Back into the oven for another ten minutes till it all melts together. Serve it tipped over a bit of crusty bread (toasted? Rubbed with garlic oil?) or some green vegetables. Nice with some chopped up bits of crispy bacon in but I prefer it without. Sometimes the sauce curdles but it doesn't really matter. Would be nice with blue cheese too.
Tonight I will be cobbling something together that involves chicken cubes and courgettes. I vaguely like these, but not with cooked tomatoes. Last time I did the wine/mushroom/cream thing, and the two before that green thai so I think it has to be tomato based. Maybe peppers and butterbeans, and chipotle chilli flakes. I pootled around the Swedish place this morning, picked up a worktop stand leg and a bathroom cabinet. I'm really liking how much better the empty bathroom looks so the plan is to replace the old mirror with a mirrored cabinet so some of the daily use stuff can be hidden away. I didn't really like any of the cabinets and am guilty of an 'it'll do' purchase. I think OH will have to make an oak one for me but this will do for now.
The worktop leg is for a long overdue little project in the back hall. The house of many halls has quite a lot of dead space in hallways due to the long, thin shape of the house. The back hall is quite wide and (in addition to having three doorways) houses the washing machine and tumble dryer, suitably precariously stacked on top. The plan is to use a bit of the leftover oak wood worktop from the kitchen to transform this area into a mini utility with a proper permanent worktop so the washing machine can go underneath and the tumble dryer securely on top. Screwed to batons back and side and then the leg I bought today securing the front corner.
Mozzarella out to defrost as the boys are having pizza for dinner. I don't like pizza or yucky cooked tomatoes, and of course the wheat doesn't like me, so need to think of something for me to have. OH will be having last nights chicken leftovers, as they are in a tomato based sauce.
I did have a mooch around the tkmaxx too and didnt buy anything, even though they had nice le crueset stoneware in the clearance :AMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Another lovely sunny day in redo land. No remotely interesting jobs to apply for, no prolific so just plate spinning on SBs today sadly. Out and about for a walk in the sunshine this morning, and picked up mushrooms and some RTC eggs for weekend breakfasts. I had a little play on the outdoor exercise equipment in the town park, I quite liked it but have never seen anyone else use them.
Still scraping at the bathroom ceiling, hard work working with your hands above your head.
Resisted:
Hush sale and more jumpers, I thought I had 28 jumpers but found two more in the washing basket so its actually 30.
REN sale on bargain night cream which I'm about to run out of. I have plenty of other moisturisers, several years worth if I am honest so I just need to use something else.
I did buy a meringue with cream and strawberries though. It was suitably lovelyMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Well done on resisting moisturisers. I love the REN range too

Just think... when you've finally finished up all the other moisturisers (don't neglect your feet while doing this...) you'll be able to justify buying the stuff you love
Well done on progress with the bathroom - hopefully it'll make you realise that you're non-employed time is also productive and has value.
I'm having roast veg and baked eggs for breakfast and realising that as I'm now going to be mostly home for a few weeks I need to stock up on veg and start making yogurt again. I have odd nights away, but no long trips planned until September, when it all starts to get a bit hectic again!0 -
Gosh you've been busy redo! But well done. I have mirrored cupboards in my bathroom as I hate, hate clutter in here! All my facial creams and stuff etc nicely hidden away!
Good practical ideas for the utility space as well. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I continue to resist the lure of the REN sale despite a free account specific £5 on paypal,a £2.50 on quidco and a nice set free if you buy two things in the sale . The irritating bit is I unsubscribed from all that type of email to remove temptation but Faceache brings it up as sponsored adverts.
I've managed to dig the worktop bits out and there is a bit that is big enough - nice 40mm solid wood that matches the kitchen so pleased with that. The other bits might work in the en-suite to be, as I really want to invest in a pretty hand painted sink bowl that will need to be fitted on something.
Yesterday I went though a few books and jotted down some book/page numbers for new recipes to try - all based around a theme of lime, basil, coriander and anchovies then I am not buying things to use a bit and then leave the rest to fester. For dinner we had this hairy dieters prawn and courgette pasta dish that was very nice. I don't eat spaghetti but the courgette bit was nice, and I could have made courgette ribbons to serve it on. I'd happily have the courgette and onion bit as a side dish too. Good job as hopefully we will be overrun with courgettes shortly. We will not be overrun by runner beans sadly, a whole three plants germinated, and none of the peas or broad beans. Had more success with the leftover peas and dwarf broad beans than the fresh seeds bought this year.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Oh dear! The perils of Faceache! Never been on it myself but I get annoying adverts pop up for things I like when I log onto certain websites that I use regularly. Can't get away from consumerism!
The pretty hand painted sink sounds like it would really suit your style of house. Hope it won't be too long till you get the en-suite of your dreams. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Yum. Courgettes are one of my fave veggies. So versatile. Planning yellow ones in one sink and green in the otherIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Well done on resisting the REN sale, especially if you've got enough face creams. It is hard resisting the various sales going on at the moment. Great if you need something, but if you don't ....
Courgetti is fab, I love butternut squash chips too - and swede chips are amazing!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
