I've told the solicitors we're imminently ready to start searches as soon as it's in so hopefully the next steps will happen quickly!
I'm using the same solicitor as a friend of mine who is also mid move (waiting on her chain) and they sorted everything for hers out in a week so I'm hoping it'll be similar for me and I'll avoid the nightmare solicitors stories circulating on here!

Two and a half weeks since our original agreed exchange date and.... still nothing.... getting really stressed out and frustrated!0 -
BountyBlink said:Congratulations 🍾 to those that have Exchanged & Completed. Our never ending stupid chain rattled on 🙄 it was 4 weeks ago we were told we were “ready to exchange tomorrow” 🤦🏻♀️We are breaking out chain but zero rentals coming on, so we need 8 weeks between exchange and completion now, we thought 4 weeks would be enough but it isn’t. We can’t make 2 adults, 2 children and two pets including a dog homeless. There are no air bnb either under the price of £3000 pcm!Had a compente run in with our agent yesterday, he knows how tough it is to find a rental... their have a Lettings division and he tried to say our buyer won’t agree to that long. So I said “tell her good luck finding another house and completing within 8 weeks!” Honestly he must think I’m stupid!!! Which gets on my nerves more.If we didn’t have the dog it would be fine but so many people going for the same rental atm and of course the landlords chose the ones without dogs. Also landlords don’t want to do less than 1 year because of all the fees (c. £600) they now have to pay every time a tenant checks out and a new ok checks in. We have tried to temp landlords with paying those fees and paying 6 months up front but it’s not working.I’m having to remind myself why we are moving (downsizing to reduce the mortgage a lot as husband was threatened with redundancy last year and it might us very concerned given the pandemic etc) we have a lovely house, in a lovely area but have to keep reminding myself why we are going!Let’s hope we all get some better news today! It’s so stressful!!!!0

Congrats to all those who have exchanged and/or completed, some good progress going on in here!
Got an email from my solicitor yesterday evening asking for the boiler service certificate I'd already sent 4 weeks ago, sigh. Also just confirming what appliances are included and that the sale is subject to my ex's purchase. Hoping that's the last of my buyer's enquiries. Still waiting on our vendors to get an updated building regs certificate as the original missed off mentioning part of the extension. Think that is our last enquiry. It's so slow going though. Still pressing to start talking dates as things are getting really urgent my side, but my pleas just fall on deaf ears.1 -
So jealous of everyone exchanging. We’ve been waiting since 4th of March 😞 we had to inform our lender of a boundary issue (got indemnity for it) and they have taken absolutely forever to get back to us. We’ve been told they will have a response for us by end of today (although was meant to be last Friday so not really that optimistic).
They’re also saying they need 6 working days notice to draw down funds for completion so even if we exchange tomorrow we won’t be completing until after Easter bank holiday now 😞
How are everyone managing to exchange/complete with such small gaps? We are in rented and buying an empty chain free house. Taken 5 months so far with various delays!0 -
We’ll still no response from any solicitor. I’m over it now. I’m not chasing anymore, not planning anymore. If it goes past this week I’ll just pay the solicitors and pull out cause I cannot cope with the stress it’s causing me.1

I've been trying to move since last July with several chain breakdowns (only one due to us/our survey), but this time round offer accepted on our current home around 19th Jan and we already had all the onwards purchase (mortgage offer, survey and searches) in place from previous collapse, so we've only had to wait for the lower chain (FTB and our buyer).0 -

Good luck to everyone wanting to exchange/complete by/on Friday!
Just an update - we completed on Monday and because we didn't get a removal company to help us it took us about 9 hours to move and we were very sore the next day... but at least we saved 500 quidJust working through the list of things I need to change my address on now - didn't realise there were so many people we needed to inform!
