Not sure exchange will happen tomorrow as completion statement wasn't requested correctly. Deep breaths. Anyway on our purchase (exchange some way away) we got the survey back ...lots of things that I suppose are standard for a Victorian house but do suggest fixing eg bit here and there on the roof and external walls. 450k house. Is it normal to ask for a few k towards this or will they tell us to do one??0

oh thank you!!! Sorry you had such a rubbish ride of things too! It’s just so horrible isn’t it?! I just hope that the house we still desperately wants decide to look for something else because if they don’t that chain is going nowhere!! We are viewing some houses this Saturday but even on paper not a match to what we want to buy.Anty21 said:
We had FTB keen to purchase and move in last year so we broke the chain - it is not easy and we have been in our temp accommodation for much longer than anticipated. I’ll be honest I found it much harder than I thought, I feel drained and I have been tearing my hair out for weeks.....however now we are close to exchange (I hope!) I still think we made the right decision for us. It’s not an easy solution though, we contemplated what would happen if onward purchase fell through, what would our plan be then etc etc. I’m sorry you have only just found all this out - a real rubbish thing to happen.BountyBlink said:After months of the top of the chain saying they would hi into rented and not hold up the entire chain they tell people today they won’t and we heard they haven’t even instructed a solicitor!!!! 3 months ago they accepted their offer! For the love of... 😩😩😩.Their buyer doesn’t want any other house and prepared to wait. The house we are buying doesn’t want any other house and wants to wait. Our buyers and FTB at bottom of chain won’t wait (understandably) and have said they we need to exchange in 3 weeks or they are pulling out.So looks like we will have to break the chain now. Took us 20 viewings to get our buyer and they have been wonderful and didn’t get a survey and came in at asking price so I think we would be silly to lose them??Oh my... what should we do?!! Send H E L P!!!!!
p.s stock up on lots of wine/gin/vodka 😂Doesn’t help that my youngest starts school in September and we were moving out of area! So we do need to find something soon so at least she has a school place! Just a complete nightmare!!!0 -
I underestimated the toll it would take on us, and when we decided to do it the lockdowns had eased etc and we didn’t expect to find ourselves homeschooling again for the whole time in a smaller home shared with family - I can’t complain though we are very fortunate and though I have struggled everything has been ok on the whole.BountyBlink said:oh thank you!!! Our onward chain is pretty straight forward, there’s just been 1 issue that took longer to resolve than anticipated and we have been sitting waiting to go since beginning of jan! When will you know about the vendors onward purchase? Keep an open mind about the new viewings, one of them might turn out to be perfect but it’s hard when you have your heart set on somewhere. I hope it all works out and you feel better about things by this time next week. Good luck with the viewings0 -
Both owners need to sign. The seller's solicitor will not check the F&F, they will just forward it to the buyer's solicitor who may notice it quickly and return it to be signed by the other owner, or they might miss it until the final review before exchange, by which time you'll be rushing around getting it signed and returned urgently at a time when you're stressed anyway.chloeH95 said:Does anyone know Who needs to sign a fixture and fittings list? Feel for you in a smaller house with lockdown and home schooling! I’m like you this whole stress has been sickening to the stomach and then you have to be a teacher and field Estate calls and !!!!!! ups whilst trying to do every day tasks! I’m spent!Anty21 said:

Good luck with the viewingsWe don’t know about our vendor... the agent says they will look to find something else but they are not lying when nothing that they need/want for them and their elderly mother has come on in months... apart from the house they want... but that house wants the house on IOW that has no intention of ever moving 🤦🏻♀️😩 so it’s a complete static chain.... unless our vendor finds somewhere else. We have a good relationship with our vendors agent and they actually said go and look at other things as they know this chain is going nowhere. It’s so hard isn’t it?!!Is your chain above the same chain you broke the chain for? Ie you have been waiting a long time for them to sort themselves out?0 -
