On Day 4 of waiting for a completion date to be confirmed by everyone in the chain. It’s frustrating as the rest of the chain kept pushing for completion back in January, now we are actually ready it seems to be taking forever to agree a date.Seeing other people’s posts on here at least gives me some reassurance that we will eventually get there!0

My solicitor just told me she has had a lot of things through to check and I am to leave her alone for a couple of days. I do so hope this will then be it and we can complete early next week.
Can anyone recommend a good book til then?I am rooting for you wiseowl00!
Bryony you need 5 working days for a post redirection so I suggest you do that first! Most other things can be back dated.1 -
A chain of 9!!!! Wow.. 3 is stressful enough!!! Glad you’ve made some progress!I called the estate agent this morning, he told me that a date of 4th March has been agreed (we are bottom of chain and flexible, we just want it done!!!) so I got all excited, and then the estate agent called back and said actually he had got confused and there’s been no discussion what so ever of a completion date!! To be honest, he’s useless, and I’m considering calling the agent for the house above ours to see if we get any other information0

We have had an update today! Our buyers sale completed on friday, and he is transferring money to the solicitor today, and wants to complete ASAP. He is a cash buyer!
Our purchase had messed up with the gas certificate when scanning it, and needed another copy taking to their solicitor, so i have just been to collect it from them and drop off at their solicitors (they are elderly and struggle to get around). This we believe is the only outstanding enquiry we have so hopefully thats it!
The property they are moving into had an issue with land registry but this was been expedited and was been sorted by Monday but not yet done.
Hopefully this is sorted and we can agree a completion date!!0 -
Just had an update from our solicitor and have an answer as to why the contract hasnt been signed.
This was an issue from 2 weeks ago this thursday. Original developer for our house had filed for bankruptcy beginning of january except he had not released all of the developement to some occupiers before hand.
We fall under one of those houses. Which means liasing with developers solicitors for final information so the contract can be released, they are hopeful for the final information this week. If not completion may have to be put back a week, which from our point of view and the people buying is not ideal.
We have booked time off work plus many other jobs for the move have been put in place. Also our buyer is a nurse and works for the NHS.
We are drained and tired but I'm trying to be hopeful.0 -

Feel like a huge weight has been lifted10 -
Exchanged!!! FINALLY - can't quite believe it!! Was starting to get so stressed about missing completion date of next Friday... but my solicitor called this morning and confirmed they'd finally received everything back.
Took me calling and emailing them almost every day to get this point - and giving authority to exchange TWICE as they'd said everything was ready weeks ago when it wasn't!
So thrilled. Also - I don't know what physically happens when contracts are exchanged, I'm sure it's just an email but does anyone else visualise a dodgy meeting in a car park swapping sealed envelopes?! This whole process is such a mystery I literally would not be surprised!
Good luck everyone else xx6 -
I've received the completion statement from the solicitor today so that either means we are still completing on Friday and he has heard back from the vendors solicitor even though I've not heard anything about exchange (so i'm assuming exchange is on Friday too) or he is just getting prepared for when he hears something.
Been so smooth the whole process and now silence on the run up to completion.

My completion was yesterday but the solicitor hadn't got the funds from the lender sorted, so we were in breach and couldn't complete. Was told they were hoping to get it done today. Apparently funds have been transferred, then there was another delay, then they had been transferred, now the solicitor isn't sure. She's hoping to get back to me "soon". I may have developed an ulcer over the past 2 days.

Just heard from my solicitor, they have received the updated mortgage offer and are sending it to the housing association for approval. They’re hoping to complete the week commencing 1st March so fingers crossed no road bumps!0
