Our buyers solicitor just won't answer the phone to ANYONE. Do you think I can call her until she finally answers and then scream 'answer my solicitor!!' down the phone? Too far? Unhelpful? I just know that the one phone call a day from the EA and my sol isn't going to cut it....

Our solicitor stated once she had this we can look to exchange this week with completion next week.. hoping to hear more tomorrow!
Have you had any news?
Hoping for exchange (or at least agreed date for exchange) this week - EA seems to think vendor will have their final ok early this week & completion would be next Friday but I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much 😬 nothing from their solicitor though so all with a pinch of salt right now!2 -
Brilliant!! Fingers crossed for you.Anty21 said:

Exactly how I feel! Until exchange has actually happened I will be taking everything with a pinch of salt 🤣 keep me updated!1 -
Thanks Anty. I don’t think I could manage 9 weeks. Luckily for us the house we are buying is the end of the chain with the vendors already moved into their second home.Anty21 said:
😬 I hear you - keep going, we are at week 9 in temp accommodation and have been ready for our purchase for 4 weeks this week with delays due to our vendors onward purchase. Doesn’t sound like it will be as long for you but I know how each setback feels when you just want to get to your new home. Telling myself over and over that it will be worth the wait and looking at the rightmove listing of our new home making plans every day to keep me going 😂 2 kids being home schooled and WFH in the mix too - couldn’t have picked a better time to move 🤦🏻♀️tigerlily74 said:Ok so we finally, after much stress and misery since November, appear to have agreed what goes on the contract as being sold. Our lender had told us last Tuesday they have reviewed the issues our solicitor reported to them and told her she was good to go. Only to discover today this didn’t happen and they have a 5 day turnaround from today to do this even though it’s their mistake, has been stuck with them already for 5 days and was raised with them before then?
Oh well. Tomorrow is another day. We needed to complete on the 12th just gone, but couldn’t so we broke the chain and are now living in an air bnb which we booked til the 26th. It’s a nightmare.
Week 18 since solicitors were instructed.
I hope you get some good news soon!1 -

Top of the chain didnt do it intime so not today! The whole process has been issues with the top of the chain ughHaythere said:Just given authority to exchange today. Wish me luck 🤞
This is what I'm worried about, and if we don't meet the Stamp Duty deadline, then i need to find another £15k
Our seller has been great through the whole process. Its her seller thats the issue (in a chain of three)
Its like pulling teeth.
Are you having top of the chain issues?
Our Buyers FTB new to this and not chasing their solicitors, the sellers on our purchase are waiting for a probate, but that may be delayed. We’ve had such bad luck this last year, I am not holding my breathe until exchange and completion date confirmed0 -
Ive got the same mind set as you! Had such bad luck this year that i wont believe it until im in the house!Insomniac101 said:

Im a FTB and both I and my seller were ready to go since the end of october. Its her seller that keeps running into issues. First their original purchase fell through, then they found one with no onward chain so we thought we would be in by Jan. No such luck. Loads of extra searches from them, and a personal contact from my seller for a date and they now have dragged their feet today. Im not getting my hopes up that we will exchange tomorrow but luckily we have a few weeks before completion.
I have a really good landlord and we are friendly so she is being flexible but yhe point is she shouldnt have to be! Neither should me or my seller considering we have both been ready for months0 -
Good luck today all!5

Reading this thread makes me feel slightly better as a FTB that all the uncertainties are normal (but still frustrating!).
16.10 - offer made and accepted. Solicitors instructed.
20.10 - mortgage application
04.11 - mortgage offer received
20.11 - searches received
10.12 - survey
28.01 - enquiries back
03.02 - proposed completion date of 8th March.
Estate agent said the chain had confirmed 8th March, but our solicitor has said this isn't the case so can't discuss exchange dates. So completion is potentially 3 weeks away... Or maybe not. Feeling less likely. So frustrating that there is nothing we can do apart from ringing agent/solicitors for updates. I work in the NHS and can't take any time off in March so the move is already going to be stressful 😵

My Solicitor must've picked up how stressed I am (possibly from the 4am time stamps on my emails), emailed me twice today already to confirm and explain some things

Losing the will somewhat, we're in a chain of 3 (us in rented - our seller - their seller who is selling an empty house). We've been good to go for weeks, and our landlord wants his house back ASAP, but nothing seems to be happening. Trying to just ignore it, to reduce the stress, but that's really hard to do. Solicitors seems to have gone quiet for the last few weeks and aren't answering my questions
