Looking for forever house for a while and found the perfect home (Young Family).
    07/08 - AIP
    16/11 - Offer made
17/11 - Offer accepted and solicitor appointed
24/11 - Submitted documents via Financial advisor
7/12 - Valuation agreed and Mortgage offer issued (woohoo)
18/12  - Submitted solicitor pack and search fees paid
06/01 - Surveyor carried out after 1 month wait - No concerns or issues
12/01 - No concerns or issues from searches
    05/02 - Exchange
08/02 - Expected to complete but...
Unfortunately seller passed away on weekend of 6/02. We must wait for probate to be granted in order to proceed and likely miss the stamp duty holiday so need to pay additional 13/14k.

My vendor gave his solicitor the answers to our enquiries last monday, the estate agent told me we should get them in the coming days. My solicitor heard nothing by 4pm thursday when I rang, chased estate agent friday regarding the lack of response, and to chase up a pipe the vendor agreed to fix (vendors builder went round thursday to check it out), she said she would get back to me shortly... as well as the solicitor accountant commencing her due diligence checks on me friday and claiming I'd not given her the correct bank statements, after a phone call and a bit of disagreeing she found said document with the rest like I'd originally said (very late in the process for these checks??? Theyve had these documents since instruction but they said it's too time consuming to do at the start????)  I've heard nothing from anyone today!!! Driving me crackers especially since the vendor told me he wanted it all completed by the end of feb or he was putting the property back up for rent!!!
  • Hope to exchange this week, we suggested 2nd of March to our solicitor for completion when we signed all the papers last week but haven't heard back from the seller as to whether that's possible. It's us (FTB), seller, then his seller. His seller has been waiting for probate on the house they're buying but as it's not been granted yet I have been told they are now putting an agreement in place to rent the house they are buying until the sale can proceed.
  • Looks like we are all sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for answers! It's not easy this moving process.
Would love to be moving next Friday, cannot understand why our buyers who are renting are taking their time to sign a contract? The completion date was made back in early December, which they were fine with and also came to view the house again for a memory refresh, to measure etc. All was well. If they wanted to pull out why waste all this time?
We heard from our solicitor this morning that she is still chasing. Would just like to know are we moving next friday or is that it for us? This waiting is awful. First time selling but dont think I want to go through this again. Tired of worrying and sleepless nights. Plus its frustrating as this move not only benefits my husband and I but much of our wider family circle especially my elderly in laws. I'm also tired of living in a half packed house, just the essentials to pack away. I really do hope we all get to where we need to be 🌄.

Supposed to be completing this Friday (19th) but we've been waiting for dates from vendor for exchange for 2 weeks now and still heard nothing so if completion is to go ahead Friday, it looks like it will be exchange and completion on the same day.

  • Legit about to lose it...
    Completed at 11am this morning.
Our sellers picked up keys at 12pm.

They have still not finished sorting their stuff out and we are stuck in Tesco car park waiting. 4hours 30mins after they got their keys.  They still have multiple trips to their new house left to do.

I don't mind giving extra time... Because life happens and it's stressful...but they are just totally unprepared.

  • Useless solicitors are still useless. Failed to complete today because they didn't send the paperwork to the lender. Now they are "liaising urgently with the lender" and "it is hoped the money will be released tomorrow" but they can't confirm. So much for my happy day of owning my first home.
  • Joining in on this one after spending the last few months ‘lurking’. We’re currently living in rented and had an offer accepted on our dream house at end of August. Unfortunately seemed to have hit every possible road block between then and now, and even though it’s a 3 party chain (us, the sellers & their seller), we’ve still not got to the point of agreeing dates.. currently feel like we’re pestering the solicitors every couple of days for an update, but after almost 6 months I can’t help it!

We’re now only waiting for an agreement on the lease, which looks like it might require an indemnity policy. Surely that can’t take long to sort out, even in today’s world?!
  • Flurry of emails from our solicitor this afternoon, seems like the last answers to the Buyers question back two weeks ago needed clarification! We are selling a leasehold property, and require the landlord to arrange an inspection before reassigning the lease.
Our purchase enquires is missing a few answers, which will now be chased
So I'm lucky I had a panic and emailed them yesterday in the middle of the night!
    This is so stressful!!!
