Bad news again for us today. Still waiting on the asbestos report for the vendors onward purchase. Been waiting for it since last week. As it hasn’t come in, it now means we can exchange and complete next week as our solicitor needed to order our mortgage funds today to be ready for next week.
So disappointed, feel like we are just getting absolutely now where. Waiting on this final thing is so draining.
So sorry to hear that, not that it helps I am feeling the same - it is so disheartening just sat waiting, we were originally meant to complete next Wednesday, but cannot now, as we haven't been able to exchange yet.
We cannot get any information from anyone at the moment, we are just waiting for the bottom of the chain solicitor to get their bums into gear and be ready to exchange - the frustrating thing is that we know all the queries they had were answered a couple of weeks ago, so they just need to review them and issue pack to their client for them to sign, so we can exchange.  Also doesn't help they are refusing to speak to anyone apart from their client and even takes them days to get back to him.  I am on the edge all the time, hate this.
  • Well I got an email today that the HA/developer have approved my mortgage offer - 6 weeks since I sent it to them. I actually wasn't aware they hadn't approved it, lol... (@annetheman has yours been approved yet?)

The solicitors still haven't received word from my lender (Kent Reliance) that they've OK'd the Japanese Knotweed guarantee. They were expecting to hear today but now think it will be tomorrow. They've tried to reassure me that other properties on this development have been ok'd by KR but I REALLY want to exchange tomorrow as that's 2 weeks before completion and I want to book in virgin media for internet! As well as the fact my anxiety is so high right now and I just want to know!

Re: everyone's packing woes stories, I haven't even started thinking about it yet and I'm now too also wondering whether doing it in 1 day is realistic. I don't really own much but... my housemate has declared she is now moving out the SAME WEEKEND AS ME and she's not only started packing but her stuff is now EVERYWHERE and it's stressing me out! She has about triple what I do and she's just created 10 times more mess. Bleurgh.

In good news - I bought a kettle, it arrived today. It's red. It's nice.

Someone tell me you're supposed to feel like half your house hasn't been packed yet when moving day is the day after tomorrow!

The more we pack the harder it is as everything is in the way. Our budget removals told me today they're going to hire a big boy lorry for our move instead of two smaller lutons. I'm not filled with confidence.

I think we mostly have everything done, but also there seems to be a lot of "we'll do that tomorrow"-ing being bandied about, and Thursday is the last tomorrow we have.
Me and my other half are on completely different pages when it comes to packing.... I can't get over how much stuff we have, whereas he thinks we'll get it all in the back of a self drive 😂🤷‍♀️

Actually quite interested to see who's closest in their estimate!
There was a moment, when we got a quote of £1600 not including packing, that my husband was sure we'd be able to hire a van. To move our 3 bed full of clutter house. Glad I talked him out of that. I'd consider it actually if we were in rented and had an overlap, but it's just not feasible without putting stuff in to storage when you're selling and buying at the same time.... and whilst I could definitely manage loading/unloading our house once, the thought of doing it TWICE in short succession would make me refuse to move!

So from all the recent updates I have taken that everyone is waiting and it sucks, we should all give extra time for packing and Rach has a nice red kettle, I think that’s pretty much it in today’s news!

I just got a call from our estate agent to say that they had contacted our buyers solicitor for their weekly update and been casually told that their buyer had pulled out but they have another one now... right. Their estate agent couldn’t tell them what the new chain is other than that it’s complete, he will be able to tell him tomorrow apparently?? The old buyer has sold the new buyer their searches “because they felt bad” (I’m sure the money will help them feel better) but they still need a survey and I’m guessing maybe a mortgage. Now have to wait until tomorrow to find out how big this new chain is as previously it was just four of us in total.
So stressed now as the agent says our buyer still aims to complete by the end of the stamp duty holiday but we already know they won’t be able to go ahead if we do miss it, I can see them asking for money off and then us having to pay 15k stamp duty on our own purchase (I have always been prepared to pay our stamp duty but not theirs!) otherwise they pull out!
Add in the complication that I’m moving 170 miles, start a new job up there on the 29th March and have two small children requiring childcare :( I can’t believe this. We lost our first buyer back in November when their buyer pulled out!
Sorry I went off on one there! Thankyou for letting me vent

That's what this thread is here for. It sounds so stressful, I can't believe someone has pulled out now! But. If the chain has good solicitors and the new buyer doesn't have a massive chain as well, you never know.

    😂🤣 Best news all week

Nearly a week has gone by and we have radio silence from all the solicitors!
Is anyone else finding this extremely frustrating or is it just me ! haha!
Just like our sellers solicitor, nothing for two weeks then a quick email late Friday stopping exchange before going on holiday for a week when they are not answering anything!
  • @rachlikeswinter I’m due to be completing tomorrow after exchange last week, but haven’t received my completion statement yet! I have at least payed over my full deposit and some money towards fees...
Not planning on moving in straight away - I need to get curtains and decorating done, and then starts the operation of moving my four beautiful cats before I have any furniture removals! I’m giving myself a good couple of weeks!

Haha yes we have quotes ranging from 600 to 1600!!!

Then when we saw van hire for 2 days with the different pickup/drop off locations (we are moving to different area and last to get keys so v unlikely we can return van by 5pm same day and wouldn't HAVE to do one trip) was going to be about 500 anyways we've decided removal company 100%

When we were FTB moving from our rental flat we did it all in a hyundai getz 😂😂 I think about 10 trips...
