  • I received my mortgage offer on 4/1; finally received  the correct contracts on Tuesday; and payed the money to the solicitors on Tuesday afternoon.  I then found an old family friend willing to witness my documents; and posted them all back in sellotape reinforced envelopes!!!
I then had a call this afternoon from my solicitor - exchanging tomorrow; and completion next week!
That’s awesome news, congratulations! We have been going back and forth, trying to get the correct contracts in place since the end of November. Solicitors were appointed in early October. I am pretty fed up but it’s nice to hear it is in fact possible to buy a house!!

Seems like we’ve had a very similar week. Not holding my breath that I get any kind of meaningful update tomorrow.
Our seller has dropped off the face off the earth. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Uurrrg tell me about it! My vendor has gone quiet, been waiting 3 weeks for a response to final enquiries and they have gone silent.
So frustrating I've emailed them directly twice in the last 2 weeks, even a "im just waiting on xyz will get back to you next week" etc would be fine, but radio silent is making me panic 😔

We haven’t had much of an update, due one tomorrow after EA chases final enquiries. She did say that our seller is really pushing to move now, considering it’s just us 2, we hopefully shouldn’t be waiting much longer!

So things are really moving today. Solicitor has sent a load of emails today. Solicitor asked for proof of funds for deposit. What a nightmare that was, funds came from house sale 3 years ago, into an account now closed.   Money in my ISA transferred from one account to another then onto another. I think I've managed to find the paper trail of everything.
    Outstanding enquiries answered.
60 page lease to be printed, signed, witnessed and posted but I'm not sure where on the lease to sign.  There's a deed of covenant - under letting with a space to sign as the underlessee.  And also a deed of covenant - assignment to sign as the assignee.
Is that me in both cases ?

I've been following this thread for a few months now and have enjoyed reading that so many of you have exchanged/completed - or at least are about to!  Congrats to you all.  I'm selling my one-bed flat in SE London and the plan is to buy a house with my mum when she also sells.  I'll go into rented in the meantime. Here's my (so far) very short timeline.
24/09 - flat goes on the market - loads of viewings and a couple of (very) low-ball offers from investors follow
    21/12 - reduced the price
13/01 - accepted an offer just under the revised price from a relocation company paying cash who want a 12-week completion (yikes!)
    13/01 - instructed solicitor
19/01 - hand-delivered what felt like an entire forest of paper back to the solicitor's office
28/01 - draft contracts sent to buyer's solicitors
    and now we wait...
  • For the 4th time...top of the chain has moved completion date less than 2 days before hand.

    Fuming is not the word

    Hi all,
First time poster, as many I've found myself on this thread as frustration builds.........
    Our timeline at present:
2/12/20 - sale agreed on our home, cash buyer but house sale going through.
3/12/20 - solicitor appointed for sale.
7/12/20 - offer accepted on house. (end of the chain)
8/12/20 - solicitor appointed for purchase.
15/12/20 - Mortgage valuation completed and mortgage offer provided.
15/12/20 - Searches paid for to solicitor.
5-15/1/21 - contracts for both sale and purchase returned to solicitor. queries raised by buyer which responded too.
29/1/21 - solicitor says nothing outstanding on our sale, but they were waiting a reply to a query on our purchase (since found out this was the gas cert, which id already seen).
4/2/21 - gas cert received from solicitor. Advised that buyers sale is completing on the 8th february 21.

Things have gone relatively quickly compared to some stories ive read on here (hats off to you all for still plugging away when things get complicated!!). With ours it seems the solicitors now have everything to exchange, do I just sit and wait for them to contact me or pester them like a loony to get it done!?
