Just had an update, waiting on 4 more enquiries to be answered on our vendors onward purchase, but only delay could be that it could be the management company that have to answer them (vendors buying leasehold).
Fingers crossed they can get the answers back this week and we can be in a position to exchange next week! Got everything crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Keeping all my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Thank you! Have you heard anything?
Today has been a whole load of nothing and it is incredibly frustrating.
It appeared that all parties were committed for completing on the 12th Feb but now we are faced with a bunch of no shows now the time has come to exchange. Other half sent a stern email out today to the EA & Solicitor as we are just absolutely sick of the delays and the lack of communication up and down the chain. Right now it seems there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Sorry to hear this, I feel completely the same. Even though we had a slight update I still can’t see there being much progress this week.

hopefully the email will give them a kick up the bum they need!! I’ve found the only way we’ve got results is to just constantly chase!
Feeling so down with it all today. Perhaps, the lowest i have felt so far with this house buying experience.

My partner and I are currently living in separate houses and with it being lockdown we have not really seen each in three or so months. Its so frustrating, I feel that other peoples incompetence & lack of organisation is causing unnecessary delays and taking time away from being together.
I would not be so stressed about it if we had clear timescales. We found out the day before exchange that we were in a chain.
Here we are again, a few days before exchange deadline and it looks to be postponed again with no reason as to why.

We are at the top of a 5 link chain and are selling a house on behalf of our aged mother who has late stage dementia and is recovering from COVID. There is a risk that she may not be with us much longer, in which case the whole thing would fall apart whilst we applied for probate. Given the risk, we have been advised to exchange and complete on the same day, being the 12th. What could possibly go wrong ! Good luck all.
We are in this exact position but further down the chain, and have been asked for same day exchange/completion on the 12th!  Maybe you are in our chain, you aren't in Hampshire are you?
Yep. DM me if you want to chat 🙂
  • So......we’ve exchanged and agreed completion for 12th 💃 It feels like a lifetime but in really has only been since we made our October 19th

Exchange came a bit of the blue today as although we knew all enquiries were now satisfied, it seems my solictor decided to crack the whip and out of nowhere at 3pm she started contacting the rest of the chain and it was deal done by 4.45pm.

Wouldn’t have happened without the amazing estate agents pushing the respective solictors though and they were the ones to agree the completion date accross the chain.

Good luck everyone! This forum is amazing and thank you for all keeping my sane by just reading that I wasn’t in this alone.

Great to see so many of you have exchanged.   I signed and returned the mortgage deeds today.  Life insurance sorted.  Does this look like I'm ready to exchange?
We did all that in November and we're still waiting.
Depends on how good your conveyancing team is and what else they've already done.
Everything else is done i believe.  Searches back, I've signed and returned contract, enquiries raised and answered

We're not in a chain.  Currently renting and moving into a new build.
  • They don't make this whole "becoming a homeowner lark" very easy... I am a FTB, the property I am buying is a vacant  top floor maisonette flat - the seller lives next door after purchasing the ground floor and top floor maisonette in order to build on the land attached, sounds very easy right? No chain - should be a breeze... wrong!

Fast forward 5 months since the offer and the sellers solicitor is still sending documentation regarding the wrong property? I am trying to keep my cool but get increasingly frustrated by the day, I find myself glued to my phone constantly refreshing emails or on the phone to my solicitor or EA for updates - sure I am becoming a right nuisance lol!!!

Do you know what, that’s exactly the same position as us. Not living with partner so trying to push a long.

I felt really down Monday and yesterday but today I just keep thinking there can’t be much longer now. Hopefully you will hear something tomorrow and will lift your spirits a bit. But I completely agree, it’s so hard to rely on other people when it concerns something that is such a big part of your life.
Hang on in there, we’ll get there I’m sure and all of this will seem so worth it 🤞🏼

I'm in a similar situation. Myself and my partner are living separately and can't see each other due to lockdown. So, I basically can't see him until we complete on this house. The vendor on the first property pulled out after 3 months, and then we've just had constant delays with this one (4 months). We are buying a property with no chain, so I don't even think it's unreasonable to expect to be moved in by now (or at least have a date!). But people are just constantly making mistakes, not communicating properly, etc., etc. I'll be honest, I'm absolutely miserable. I feel like this whole situation is ruining my life. I'm constantly stressed, upset, and feel like we're missing out on our relationship because of all this.

I thought if you lived alone you were allowed to form a bubble with another household? If I didn't live with my other half, I'd be doing that.

I don't live alone and neither does he.

Unfortunately we both don’t live alone so cannot form a bubble. Trust me that I would have done that if I could.
