Well 1 month in - Still waiting for sellers solicitor to respond to enquiries. Our solicitor said there are 10 enquiries in total and she was chasing them up on Monday. Everything is done from our end - I like our online conveyancing as everything is done online - We can see exactly where we are, there is a chat portal so easy to speak to one of the team and all the documents we need to upload and download from them are there. Very happy with the service.0

Also, he has been very persistent in texting and asking us for updates, rather than via the solicitors. So today we told our solicitors we dont want him to contact us anymore, as its far too much pressure and stress!
I want to hear others opinions on this situation and any advice you may have, as we dont want to loose the sale, but at the same time he is driving us mad!
That definitely doesn't sound right, tell your solicitor to grow a pair and set the seller & his representative straight (they are aware he is doing all this aren't they? In which case why on earth aren't they jumping up & down getting him put back in his box already!), speak to the estate agent as well & get them to wrangle him as they want the sale to happen and if you're not happy you may drop out which means no commission for them so they should be there to assist you too, they can also impress upon all parties who should be doing what or not.
Sounds like your seller is verging on harassment and I'd tell him that. & He won't miss the exchange rate, that's only the proposed exchange date as the whole chain needs to be ready.
Maybe he would like to lose you as a purchaser completely and have to start from scratch finding someone new.
& You need to block his number, now.- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

My experience so far with solicitors is that they take on too much work and it takes forever for them to do anything. Mine seems to do nothing unless I am asking her to do it. I feel like I'm having to nag her in to do everything. I'm starting to worry that on completion day I will still have to be nagging her. :wall:
18+ weeks in and everyone has been ready to exchange for weeks but nothing is happening! :mad:0 -

Yes you are probably right Friday 13th will be unusually quiet in the completion department. In fact the 12th will probably be really busy! :doh:0 -

Our buyer was contacting us directly and we got quite stressed out with it so our estate agent told him not to and to go through the solicitor or her and he stopped.
You definitely need to get either your solicitor or estate agent to make it clear that any contact needs to be through them. It's not fair when they put pressure on you and there is nothing you can do about it.0 -

Why the hold up? What is there left to do?0 -
Finally Exchanged........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its taken 20 weeks!
4 in the chain.
All the hold ups were bottom of the chain, first time buyers and they were buying part buy part rent with a housing association.
Housing Accreditation took absolute ages to process anything.
We did try to attempt exchange/complete same day, had removal lorry packed up... ..bottom of chain wouldn't release funds due to an out of date fire risk assessment.
So had to unpack lorry back in to our old house. (older post page 16)
So made sure there was at least a week between exchange/complete to get things sorted.
If we had known it would take this long I wouldn't have minded, but the most annoying thing was at least 10 times were were told "exchange is happening this week" then hearing nothing!
Getting hopes up - but now we've lost the excitment.
I have unfortunately lost trust in the whole process and think everyone lies.
Cheers for the reads on this forum , great advice.
Good luck with Everyone's move.

Letter from solicitor today to make appointment to sign contracts asap. We both need to go in and appointment will be 1.5 to 2 hours  assuming this means she'll go through all the findings to enquiries etc before asking us to sign.
Problem now is being able to make an appointment in office hours, we'll both need time off work and hubby can do Friday afternoon this week or after that it will be 2 weeks time as he works away! Really don't want that kind of hold up. I'll be on the phone first thing tomorrow pleading for an appointment on Friday.0
