16/8 - offer accepted
25/8 - House valuation survey complete
29/8 - mortgage offer issued
30/8 - paid fee to start solicitors off
No chain on either of us, hoping it happens fairly quickly as we are temporarily living with parents and it's a bit stressful!
Update:
21/09 - all enquiries answered, contract being posted out.
29/09 - completion date.
So excited! Now to arrange all my insurance and pull all the money together! The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.0 -

We have had 2 weeks added on to our completion date waiting time now. My buyer is refusing to complete on the date everyone else has agreed to. He is an investor so it's not like he has to move! My husband can't have time off so I'm going to have to try and move on my own! Don't know wether to laugh or cry
Oh no, that's rubbish. Has he given any reason why?
We're still waiting to hear back what everyone else has to say about a completion date. Our buyer wants 13th, Vendor wants w/c 23rd and we'd prefer 20th but we can be flexible to a degree... you know that feeling where you start to think you're the only one that ever offers some flexibility... yeah that!
Anyway, conversation with solicitor today and we don't have to go in to sign, they just like to offer that service so they can talk through everything in detail and make sure we understand it all. It would be nice, but husbands work schedule makes it practically impossible, so she's sending out a full pack in the post and we just need to read through, clarify anything we're unsure of and get out signatures witnessed by someone independent :j
Feeling cautiously optimistic that the finish line is in sight:D0 -
We got offered our mortgage Wednesday so straight away called our solicitor to start the searches.
On average how long do they take?
Luckily we aren't in a rush but we'd be like to be in as soon as possible
Been told out searches are all in hand.
Hopefully be able to exchange next week as me and my wife are off work.
6 weeks tomorrow since the AIP was submitted.0 -

Yep I know that feeling. Our sellers are lovely and have bent over backwards to get things to work. We have waited well beyond what we were originally willing to wait. The rest of the chain just won't seem to move on anything. It appears he is buying another property at the same time but still not sure how 2 weeks will make any difference. I am having a well needed drink tonight that's for sure!
We didn't go in to sign we just collected it too. A neighbour signed the forms for us. It was a lot to take in reading it all. I nearly cried when I saw the huge pile of paper. Good luck0 -
been told our searches will be 2 weeks before they come back were ftb and no upwards chain was so hoping to be in by end of october as hate paying rent so looking like 2 more months of rent, hoping this will be the easy bit compared to waiting for the mortgage offer that did drive me to drink.Anyone moved areas and know how you go about changing schools thats gonna be so hard on lad0

How old is your son?
We're relocating 90 miles away, now that things are getting closer I'm starting to worry about my son changing schools, he's only 6 and I know they're resilient at that age but he's going to be leaving behind some really good friends:(
Been looking at the LEA website for the new area and it says we can apply for a place 4 weeks before and have to take up an offered place within 10 school days, but to apply for the place we need a letter confirming the completion date, I just want to be able to get on with it so we know where he's going.0 -
His 8 an keeps sayin I won't have any friends but keep telling him within the first few days he'll have loads of new ones, We just can't afford to buy where we live now nd moving bout 8 miles from where we are now but his grandparents are close in walking distance nd he loves seeking them so hoping that will help him0

went to view the house yesterday; looked under the sink again and there has been a water metre fitted in kitchen since i viewed last! argh. Not sure if I should worry about this or not. It's only me, in a 3 bed house, so should be ok. Just worried about re-sale etc as read that it can't be removed now!0
