That's definitely a new one, I've never heard of a water meter affecting re-sale! Seriously nothing to worry about!
In any event, if it's just you, it's far better to be on a water meter.
Just came as a surprise, when i googled having a water metre it came up with lots of debates on whether its a good thing or not. Think large families are against it. Apparently water companies want all households on it by 2019...
I rang the solicitor today (thanks to those encouraging me to be a nuisance!) - i'm on week 10. She seemed really flustered and was just talking for the sake of talking and not actually giving me anything specific about where we are at. Finally she said she has to read through all the information and will send the info pack to me by 'this weekend'! Lets hope she put it in the last post today then for it to get to me by tomorrow. No dates still about exchanging although im hoping it can be within the next 2 weeks.0 -
Soooooo gutted got homebuyers survey result and house needs approx 25k spending on it, it's not an expensive house only 77k but would have been our first so we've pulled out, spoke to mortgage broker she says if we stay around the same our mortgage offer will be ok pending valuation. After speaking to ea she spoke to seller and he said it needed some work but never told us feel ripped off tbh then his asked the ea if he can have a copy of our survey0

Our new buyers' survey is booked for Monday. I thought they were going for a basic valuation report. Nope. They're going for a home buyers survey report. Weeeeeep. Really hoping there's not too much a 17-year-old property could throw up, certainly nothing that would force any further reduction in price, spending on repairs or the sale falling through all together. Again.0

No, not for us either, was really hoping the contract pack would arrive this weekend so hubby could sign before he goes away to work again.0 -
If I was to exchange, say next Wednesday, when would mortgage payments generally start? Would it be the following month upon completion?
Could I get life insurance, house insurance and council tax to go out the same day too?0 -
I've been lurking for a while so I thought I'd join the thread
1. Our house on market 31/8
2. Offer accepted 2/9 (first rejected, second accepted)
3. Offer made on new property 2/9 (rejected)
4. Increased offer on new property 5/9 (accepted)
5. Sols instructed 5/9
6. Survey on our property back 21/9
7. Survey on new property back 23/9
Just a waiting game now I guess. Our buyers are FTB and vendor's property is empty so just the three of us. No mortgage.2020 wins: Twitter 14 Insta 6 Online entry 5 Raff 10 -
Just a quick one please for the guys that have been through this before:
So I go to sign the contract on Tuesday. I am the buyer - everything has been done now in terms of searches and enquiries answered.
I sign the final contract on Tuesday. Is it then when the date to exchange contracts is set? Or I am guessing this requires communication with the seller's solicitors first?
Mortgage is all sorted and my deposit money is ready to be transferred to my solicitors. Neither myself or the seller is part of a chain, the property I am buying is vacant.
Both parties want this completed ASAP. Just curious about the process, typical FTB naivety!0 -

Am trying to distract myself with practicality planning. (Not helped by my neighbour packing his vans outside my window)
Last time I was a first time buyer & moved in at a leisurely pace as I was living with my parents so this is the first time in a chain. My housemate who is moving with me has a fish tank which she will be dealing with but I don't have any idea of what time we will be expected to have moved out by and how long until we will have the keys to the new place.
I will speak to my estate agent but in the mean time can anyone advise what sort of gap we may have in the middle? Or anyone with experience of moving fish?
We aren't moving far (20mins away) & are planning to move the fish in & out in one move but they can't be in limbo more than a couple of hours so how likely is it that a back up plan will need to be actioned?- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
