We exchanged ON Friday, surprising with the snow but solicitor made it into the office ☺️
Apparently we now need 10 working days to complete......not sure why but we are trying to be positive about EVERYTHING!

    Great news

Tell me about it! I am going for "best reason to not exchange on time" story for the 2019 MSE forum awards :D

Solicitors just confirmed they have funds and asked for proof of me closing other bank accounts and transferring all to one to send the money in one lump, along with the full schedule of my insurance. This has now been done so... fingers crossed!

did they insist on you sending the money in one lump rather tjan from dufferent bank accounts?

YAY - we have exchanged !! (after about 6 days of delays due to one of the solicitors)

We are not moving as the flat is empty and MIL is safely residing at a nursing home, but it's still a relief to get it all sorted.
  • Great news Lisyloo

We competed today. We have the keys! Meeting our friends to discuss the works we want done and then we can move in!
  • Our transaction has been dragging on since September. Our vendor was last to find somewhere and the EA is useless. We sold through Purple Bricks so dont have much in the way of EA support on our side.

Our buyer threatened to pull out 7 days ago due to lack of progress since Christmas. I can hardly blame her. Looking to exchange this week or the deal is off.

Apparently 1 query outstanding on our vendor's side and the EA is not communicating with us at all.

My husband and i really hit rock bottom last week with the stress. We have an autistic child and a baby due very soon and we dont know where we will be living in a week's time.

Sorry for the moan. Maybe we will get good news tomorrow. I thought today might be the day, but it seems not.

I could have written this.....pretty much same situation. Our buyer said the same thing and today was the deadline. We need to exchange this week or else. Stressed out doesn’t describe it 😫
  • Hi, I’m currently waiting to exchange after getting my offer accepted on 19th Nov. Thought we’d have exchanged by now. Still waiting on some enquiries that got sent nearly 4 weeks ago. Can’t understand what else the vendors need to answer. Received some responses on 9th Jan and nothing since, feels like nothing is happening lately
  • Thanks Chimpy9. I must admit, your posts caught my eye as your situation looked spookily similar. Miserable isn't it? The only saving grace for us is that our solicitor is extremely tenacious. But she can't do anything about the other solicitors in the chain.
