  • Really hopeful that something will happen this week.

Made direct contact with the seller last week and it makes it so much easier! Just waiting for the buyer's pack from the management agency, which we should have sometime tomorrow :cheesy:

Then I think we can exchange....

Exchange attempts timeline (3 person chain)

17/8 completion of 14/9 agreed, told chain is ready....

23/8 first attempt recieve no response from vendors solictor
    24/8 recieve no response
    25/8 recieve no response
    Bank holiday weekend
28/8 vendors solicitor claims the delay was due to not being able to contact their client. Vendor herself contradicts saying not heard from her solicitor for 2 weeks and been contactable.
29/8 Vendors give authority in the morning! But now apparently vendors vendor have not signed their contracts. This will be done today ready for tomorrow so we are told.
    30/8 recieve no response
    3/9

    Today is attempt number 8!

Apparently we are back to the contracts again. Apparently they are signed but friday were delivered to a different branch of the solictor. This means they needed to be sent internally so exchange could take place. Word is our vendors solictor can not get a clear response as to whether the onward solicitor actually has the hard copy now or not...

    The mystery continues...

Depends on the chain and how quickly they respond to enquiries, one of the vendors in our chain took 3 months to respond to one(!!) enquiry.

I know you'll be out of pocket and it could mean a tight month if you complete on your purchase having paid for a month's rent, but you'll also have the benefit of not having to move out and in on the same day.

I've had a nightmare with my purchase so I may now be too cynical but I would work on having to pay another month's rent, at least

Yes, further to this we've realised that a name is spelt wrong on the mortgage offer. I too am incredible cynical about everything now. In the mindset that it won't happen before then.

I hope yours speeds along and there are no further hiccups!

FTB at the bottom of the chain has been offered a price reduction if they stop messing about with surveys and exchange by the end of this week. They were given this info on Friday, no reply yet. So this is either going to make or break us

Wow thats a ballsy move! I wish my vendor would offer us a reduction :rotfl:

fingers crossed you get exchanged by the end of the week. Let us know! :T

Vendor 2 are holding up the exchange

I'm actually starting to despise them and I don't even know them!

They failed to fill out a Transfer of funds form correctly - this was last week - and they still haven't rectified it

Literally don't see what people are doing with their time?! The second a document arrives from the solicitor I drop everything, fill it out and hand deliver it back.

I'm angry at them for you :mad:

**telepathically sends messages to Vendor 2 to HURRY UP**

Today I've learnt that a stressed and !!!!ed off Scotsman can get everything to the finish line. I should have handed the chasing over to my OH ages ago and we might already be in the house :rotfl:

We have now been promised exchange will happen tomorrow, with completion on Monday 10th - the day our mortgage offer expires, nothing like waiting until the final day :wall:

I'm not holding my breath but it feels more definite than the murmurs of exchange on Friday and this morning... everything crossed that can be crossed.

How would your OH feel about calling our solicitors? :rotfl:

So glad you've finally got the ball rolling.

    Keep us updated!! :T

Hi guys, I am a FTB on a flat with no chains and this is what's happened so far:

    Offer accepted 25/5
    Solicitor instructed 30/5
    Mortgage offer issued 6/6
    Valuation and survey 8/6
Searches have been completed and sent back to me
    Property report sent to me
Mortgage deed signed and sent back
    Some enquiries answered
We are now waiting for some questions from the vendors side to be responded to.
I'm hoping the next stage is to exchange contracts!
  • Well exchange didn't happen again, no apologies and no explanations.

They keep agreeing dates, but then just go silent.

I think it's safe to consider this one may never come good.

Best of luck to everyone else, wishing you all the success we haven't yet managed. We will hopefully one day get a home of our own.

Keep going, keep pushing today. It might happen still. Don't give up hope!
    Thinking of you!

Hope I come home from work today to a post stating you've exchanged!
