The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

We were hoping to exchange today, solicitor had said they didn't need anything and we were good to go, just waiting on the chain etc etc
Got an email this morning saying solicitor needed some paperwork from our bank about our H2B ISA, que me rushing to the bank in a stress and spending 40 minutes there while they tracked down this statement, but we got it eventually and sent it off to the solicitor via email.
Then triple confirmed if they needed anything else from us to be told no just waiting on chain and then will be in touch to authorise exchange
It's clear that we won't be getting that call now, so I guess we'll try again on Monday?
Bit stressful since the solicitor said we had to exchange today to complete before the mortgage offer expires, so I guess I'll be chasing on Monday to find out what's happening
To top it all off had a call from the EA and our vendor's husband has broken the bathroom sink, and will we be ok for them to pay us the money to get it replaced as they can't get a new sink delivered within the next week
From no activity to the most stressful Friday of my life...
Time for a stiff drink and to hope we can still complete before the mortgage offer expires
Its going to be a long weekend for you! At least I dont have to worry about mortgage offers expiring...0 -
Hilariously, completely separate from my transaction I got asked by my boss to help them exchange today - by ensuring they had their proof of all funds and certified copy of their ID and deposit with their solicitor! I was genuinely wondering how it hadn't all been done before today and how the solicitor managed to get them to exchange without all these things in place!
I was thinking of all the people on here having nightmare waits for these things and I killed myself to get it all over the line before midday and managed to get them to exchange.
On my life I was not going to let me be the reason someone exchanged today! Now I know some solicitors really do let it get that far without the basics in place!0 -

To advise that exchange is planned for tomorrow with completion agreed for 7th! So excited, if it is all done tomorrow we can give our rental notice in and not pay an additional months rent! 😁😁
We have exchanged and given our rental notice incurrently on holiday in Paris so it will be all systems go once we get home 😁
Debt free finally :j
First house purchase ... 2018 :j0 -
We were about to exchange last week all agreed to move on 31st but were suddenly told the people at the top of the chain who were originally moving in with family/rental had found a house to buy. But they've somehow managed to still promise an exchange date for tomorrow with completion by Friday?! That seems so unrealistic. And I've no idea how their solicitor has managed to send these dates down the chain unless they're sure their client will be ready!
We've struggled to get any info from anyone on what's going on. I just feel left at the bottom of the chain, in the dark.
I'm dreading more delays tomorrow.
Feels like we're never going to get there -_- if we do, and it's this week, I'll be sure to attach a picture of the pigs I saw flying too.
Best of luck this week all!0 -

Definitely not a weekend I want to repeat - ever
Never been so stressed, but hopefully we can exchange today, and complete next Monday, the bank have said they'll give us 14 days grace as long as we exchange and have the certificate of title before the 10th so I have everything crossed that can be crossed that it goes smoothly today - I won't hold my breath though
I knew it wouldn't be a smooth process but I underestimated just how much could be delayed and go awry!0 -
Good luck to everyone hoping to exchange this week!0

We are still waiting for the enquiries to come back I believe. However getting an update from our solicitors is like drawing blood from a stone. We are in rented and if we exchange before the 17th we won't have to pay another months rent. Anyone think this is possible?
*** update ****

Depends on the chain and how quickly they respond to enquiries, one of the vendors in our chain took 3 months to respond to one(!!) enquiry.
I know you'll be out of pocket and it could mean a tight month if you complete on your purchase having paid for a month's rent, but you'll also have the benefit of not having to move out and in on the same day.
I've had a nightmare with my purchase so I may now be too cynical but I would work on having to pay another month's rent, at least0 -
FTB at the bottom of the chain has been offered a price reduction if they stop messing about with surveys and exchange by the end of this week. They were given this info on Friday, no reply yet. So this is either going to make or break us :eek:0

:wall:
Vendor 2 are holding up the exchange
I'm actually starting to despise them and I don't even know them!
They failed to fill out a Transfer of funds form correctly - this was last week - and they still haven't rectified it :mad:0
