And now on the 5th day of attempting to exchange we are told our sellers sellers havent even signed their contract. Supposedly this is happening today and we can try again tomorrow.
Im so tired of this now. I dont even want the house anymore. I think we will give an ultimatum and threaten to pull out. At the moment I feel like pulling out now.
I tell you what, whenever we sell and buy again - I'm going to sell first, go into rented, and then buy“Isn't this enough? Just this world? Just this beautiful, complex

O M G :eek::eek: How can people be SO incompetent -and I would feel like pulling out too. I would issue that ultimatum.

Don't count on that being any easier either.
I completed on my sale early March this year, had a property lined-up which fell through just 2 days before but didn't want to cause heartache for the chain so carried on.
Managed to get into a rental which is now costing £750 a month plus storage for some furniture.
Had an offer accepted in mid May, and was due to complete within 4-6 weeks. How wrong was I? Due to the seller's solicitor being totally incompetent and poor at communicating, we are still forking out for rental with only a glimmer of hope in sight.0 -

Its odd isnt it. For us we were told everyone was agreed and ready at the end of the week before last. It took us 3 days to get out deposit out of savings and too our solicitor to be ready for exchange. What I dont understand is how can someone get to that position without signing the contract, it just doesn't make any sense. I think we are being lied to for some reason. I just cant work out why?0

Thoughts on timescale for exchange?
We have FTB buying our house and we're buying a house where the sole occupant is moving into rented.
Our sale is well advanced, all searches/questions etc have been sorted, just an outstanding deposit question our solicitor tells me.
The purchase, our solicitor got the draft contract etc and all the searches on friday just gone.
We go on holiday for 3 weeks in ~2 weeks time and want to exchange before we go, are we being realistic?
Failing this, can we sign everything send all the deposits etc to solicitor and say you have permission to exchange? We're contactable, slight time difference on the West Coast usa though0 -
2 weeks and no queries have been raised yet? Unlikely IMO.0

I think we've accepted the unlikely outcome, still holding onto a slither of hope2 Weeks and 2 days technically. I checked all the land registry stuff in advance and all looks normal there, no strange covenants etc to query or missing access rights etc and I know they have all the building regs certs etc for the work done to the property too.

You never know what could crop up, what if the certs aren't actually what they said they were for? For example.
Sorry I am a moany old cynic these days :rotfl:0 -

I would also say no chance. There will be some enquiries even just about the wording in the contract.
It took us around 3 months to get all our enquires resolved on our purchase!0
