Well after a complaint to the solicitor's manager, we have had progress and are finally exchanged and had lots of communication with our solicitor. Completion mid September, move in beginning of October. Finally.

    Small steps small steps.
If the stupid very late survey on the bottom of the chain property goes without major complications (it should be fine but overly nervous FTB seem unable to do anything to time), this time next week should just be at the point of exchange so will be able to discuss completion dates.
Still not holding my breath though. Also going to lose a day thanks to the sodding bank holiday!

Been following this thread with interest - and also posted on the awaiting mortgage thread too, thought I'd venture over here

    FTB
    Bank: Clydesdale

    Offer put in: 19th May
    Chain completed: 16th June
    Met with broker: 23rd June
Mortgage applied for: 25-27th June (unsure of exact date as it was with our broker who did it)
Informed of Valuation being booked: 2nd July
    First Credit Check: 2nd July
    Second Credit Check: 3rd July
Valuation booked for: 12th July (big waiting list with all surveyors in area apparently)
Additional documents requested and asking questions as to why my partner was in and out of jobs a couple of years ago (she was temping): 9th July
    Third Credit Check: 15th July
    Mortgage Approved: 15th July
Formal mortgage offer received: 20th July
    Enquiries Raised: 30th & 31st July
    Enquires Responded: 8th August
Completion date agreed: 17th August (for 31st August)
Finished waiting for other peoples enquiries further up the chain & Land Registry clarification: 22nd August

We've been informed that everything is done and we're planning to exchange tomorrow, however one snag - the early completion date that our vendor really wanted and we reluctantly agreed to, the vendor is now saying they can't find any removals to book for that date, so we're going to have to move it till potentially the next week. Have offered our removal slot on the 3rd Sept with a mover because we're happy to move a bit later in the week, we'd rather not move on completion day, no rush as we're FTB.

    So close!!

Our solicitor tried to exchange today, but could get no response from the vendors solicitor. Not suprised at all.

27 weeks since our offer was accepted, and 19 weeks of being ready to exchange, and waiting on the chain, it finally appears that vendor 2's solicitor has sent the answer to the outstanding enquiry to our vendor's solicitor.

Vendor 3 and us are sat twiddling thumbs waiting on this and have been for many many weeks. There was discussion that our vendor and vendor 2 wanted to complete before the end of August - which is next week and we haven't even looked at dates to exchange so I'm not hopeful.

It's progress though, if the answer to the enquiry is satisfactory, we can hopefully set some dates and then we can close our H2B ISAs and transfer funds.

We'll be able to add another £200 each to our ISAs on Tuesday, so I'm hoping we can sneak that in before closing them, to bump the bonus up a little bit more. Although I won't begrudge it if we can't manage that, I just want to exchange, and set a completion date so we can book time off work.
