Just incompetent solicitors on the vendors side. We've yet to exchange, but told this should happen tomorrow. Our mortgage offer expires in 3 weeks, hurray.
Sounds a lot like ours, except the incompetent solicitor was on our side. Waiting since Feb is brutal though, hope you finally got them to sort it out for you! Good luck!0 -
Emailed EA Friday morning for an update, not heard anything yet. Will try to hold on until at least tomorrow before I chase everything again0

Haven't had an update since July 18th, I was told everyone wanted to complete before the end of August. We've not discussed dates for exchange, we don't even know if vendor 2 is ready to exchange!
I don't know what to do now though, I emailed the EA on friday and was told they were waiting for purple bricks to call back with an update, only been waiting on them for a month
I don't want to bug my EA because it's not them causing a hold up, but at the same time I want to know if we actually will be exchanging this week or next or at some point in the near future!
I'm really want to call everyday but I feel that won't help?
Any advice?0 -

Call your solicitors - or email - 18 July is too far away to be waiting for an update. I'm at the stage of emailing every day now as we are meant to be exchanging - it's not happening at the moment but that's another story. You are paying them for a service - use it.
Our solicitor was great at the beginning but she's not been very responsive since we finalised all our paper work back in April.
I emailed her on friday but the reply came from someone else in the office. So I'm not sure if she's even in but I wasn't notified of any pending leave....
I'm working from home tomorrow and will make a round of calls then. I wish I had my vendors contact details in case they've had an update, but we didn't exchange numbers or emails. If I ever move again I'll definitely be swapping numbers with buyer and vendor! It's my biggest regret so far.
I don't think much will have happened over the weekend, so I don't know if calling today will be useful or not...0 -
Been following this thread with interest - and also posted on the awaiting mortgage thread too, thought I'd venture over here
FTB
Bank: Clydesdale
Offer put in: 19th May
Chain completed: 16th June
Met with broker: 23rd June
Mortgage applied for: 25-27th June (unsure of exact date as it was with our broker who did it)
Informed of Valuation being booked: 2nd July
First Credit Check: 2nd July
Second Credit Check: 3rd July
Valuation booked for: 12th July (big waiting list with all surveyors in area apparently)
Additional documents requested and asking questions as to why my partner was in and out of jobs a couple of years ago (she was temping): 9th July
Third Credit Check: 15th July
Mortgage Approved: 15th July
Formal mortgage offer received: 20th July
We were pushing for a 7th August exchange for rent reasons which never happened. We've all agreed to a 31st August completion date after tons of pressure from our vendors and their vendors, so we all agree after being told that we've held the chain up, and then after we agree are informed that actually our vendors are awaiting some information from Land Registry... argh. So now, we've been put in a situation where we NEED to exchange this week in order to complete on the agreed date, otherwise it looks like the vendors won't get the date they pushed us so hard for after all.
Never moving again!Despite my name, I'm not a student any more0 -

Was the land registry thing part of the enquiries? As you've made no mention of them in your timeline?0 -

I know purple bricks/ppl is a bit of a dirty word(s) on here but I have honestly found them to be the most positive out of all the assorted companies Im dealing with, whenever i have contacted them they have contaced me back within 24 hours, so I would suggest that if your EA has only contacted them the once they really need to keep trying. If you still dont get any joy seach for them in the messages on here, someone got some action via a member of the support team reading the comments about them on here
My EA has been contacting Purple Bricks daily, they just ignore the emails or say they'll call back with an update and never do. They can't give me an update if PB don't provide any new information can they?
Honestly I will never touch them if I ever have need to move or sell a house in the future. They failed to pass on vital information about the chain which lead to months of delays and they're still refusing to answer emails or respond to calls. My EA was very frustrated before she went on leave and the EA who has taken over our file now is also unimpressed with the lack of courtesy to respond with up dates.
My vendor had was torn between two properties and I really wish she'd picked the one not being sold via PB as we probably would have completed by now.0
