Still not exchanged, vendors have asked for yet another different completion date so I expect that's put things back as paperwork would need changing. Trying again for tomorrow. Fed up is how I am feeling, along with a good dose of resigned p1ssed offness

Your vendors sound absolutely horrible

Fingers crossed for exchange today and many, many drinks to celebrate tonight!!
  • I'm waiting for the final report from my solicitors after they confirmed nothing was outstanding last Thursday. First viewing was on 29th May, the vendors want completion to be next week.
Background: No chain; I'm renting; house I'm buying has been refurbished by a developer and is currently empty.
I would have preferred completion to be the first week of September to ease my cashflow, but the vendors wore me down with their incessant pestering, so I agreed to the their requested date. That was last week. So far this week I haven't received anything from the solicitors except an assurance that they are aiming to report to me by the end of the week.

I'm getting really pi:mad::mad:ed off with the estate agents though. Every day I get someone different from the office phoning me and emailing me to confirm that I have agreed to complete next week.
Yesterday I copied the agent into an email to my solicitor in which I confirmed I'd like to complete next week. So far my solicitor hasn't made a commitment to that date. Today yet again, I get another agent from the same office emailing me asking to confirm I'm still working towards next week. Presumably the vendor is phoning them to hassle them every day and whoever picks up the phone then passes that on to me.
I feel like telling them to shove it, but obviously that's not in my interests. Anyone else been in a similar situation? I feel like whatever I do, they're going to keep pestering me.

STILL not exchanged - that's the third day in a row. This time it was the solicitors fault I feel. this morning I emailed at 9:30 am to see what was happening today, a slight mix up then that the brokers sorted out (the solicitors being a tad thick), then Ralph rang at 1:30pm to be told we were on the very final home stretch and we would be rung back very, very soon to be told we had exchanged. Then radio silence. At 3:30pm the vendors estate agents rang to find out why we had a problem with our funds (WE DIDN'T), so rang the solicitors and couldn't get through and was promised a call back. At 4:30pm no call back and so contacted our brokers again who managed to get through - no problem with our funds, just waiting for final confirmation of the mortgage being able to be released. And we should still exchange today. 5pm everyone goes home for the week and we STILL haven't exchanged. Now it is the weekend and nothing more will be done until Monday.
    What a palaver!

Hello, thought I'd jump on as don't really know what else to do at the moment.

    17/07 Offer accepted.
    19/07 Instructed Solicitor
    21/07 Mortgage meeting
    06/08 Survey completed
08/08 Mortgage offer received by solicitor and searches ordered
12/08 Review fixtures and fittings forms - raise discrepancies
18/08 Review survey - raise issues
Now waiting for 2 more searches to come back and whatever else it is that goes on.
Things going well so far and quite happy with my solicitor. Don't like not knowing when things will happen but I know there's no point in asking :rotfl:

    UPDATE:
Barclays passed it to their "valuation team" who passed it to their "ground rent team" and we are no further along. We've now missed our chance to complete tomorrow, as arranged. Even if Barclays approve today, we will need to confirm a completion date with HTB so it's likely to be some time next week. Solicitor doesn't think there will be a problem, but she also seemed to know nothing about needing to send this info to begin with (because she's terrible). I called Barclays myself and they said "your solicitor should have sent this when the mortgage was signed off, months ago."

So another week of living out of a suitcase in my friend's spare room with all my belongings in storage. And I'm spending all day every day refreshing my emails to see if Barclays are going to turn down our mortgage at the last minute and actually leave us without anywhere to live. So miserable now, I just want this to be over.

We finally got there! Exchanged at 5pm Friday! Had to pay an extra £71 indemnity insurance for Barclays that was sprung on us at the last minute - as though we had any choice to question it. Then the solicitor told me at 4 on Friday that all was ready, but she was struggling to get through to the vendor's solicitor for the final sign off and was just receiving an out of office reply. Honestly did not think that it was going to happen again, but it did!

Due to complete tomorrow. Started the process 26th March. Such a relief, though I won't fully breathe out until the keys are in my hands.
