just checking up on peoples progress as I have none of my own . I'm still waiting for my buyer to sort their mortgage out, they had a typo on their address on credit file or electoral roll or somewhere anyway, stoppig them getting an OIP which they found out about two weeks ago. They have told me today that that has been corrected and they are just waiting for the credit agency to recognise the update. so I am feeling frustrated that nothing very much is happening. but we accepted their offer 5 weeks ago, and had our offer accepted 4 weeks ago, so compared to some people on here its been no time at all. I think I'm going to have to dig deep for some patience aren't I??

just when you think the patience well is empty it does seem to self fill - we have been on this journey since the beginning of January. I'm sure my well has emptied and refiled a good few times.

    Fraid so haha.

I'm 12 weeks in, its the dishonesty and inconsistency of EAs that is driving me up the wall at the moment.

    Deep breath.....

Just had the completion statement from the solicitors - of course they haven't bothered looking at Welsh land tax rather than English and so the figure is out. Typical. Still it's only £50 and in our favour so they can just refund us. Hey ho.

EA goes on leave tomorrow ubtil 3rd September, she's been amazing in chasing the chain but the vendor's causing the hold up are selling and buying via Purple Bricks. Getting an update from PB is like trying to bleed a stone!

We've been chasing PB for updates on vendor 2 (the only vendor the chain is waiting on) for 3 weeks now, and heard nothing!

Our mortgage expires 10th September and so does our vendor's and we've been told by the bank we can't get an extension, but if we get a certificate of title before the 10th they'll honour the offer.

The offer was accepted 12th Feb, this is literally the most exhausting thing I've ever been through and I will never move again once we get into this house
  • Hi everyone, been a long time since I've posted on the forums! Anyway...
Current house buying timeline is ..
28/6 - offer made and accepted on house, mortgage application submitted and solicitors instructed
4/7- extra information requested and survey completed
    9/7- more information requested
    12/7- mortgage offer issued
    18/7- renegotiated price following survey

AFAIK our solicitor still hasn't received draft contracts or anything from vendor so I've chased this with EA ... Hoping to complete before we go on holiday on 30/8 so everyone needs to get a jump on now!

    30/7 - contracts appeared
13/8 - fixtures form and property information form appeared after I contacted solicitors to make a complaint.

We are now waiting on local search to come back (due tomorrow) and the final few enquiries plus an electricity bill to check out about the green deal boiler cost and we are good to go! really hoping they are quick with these enquiries!
    Debt free finally :j
    First house purchase ... 2018 :j

Still waiting to exchange... 7 people in chain. Top end havent got some management pack and are not in any hurry to get it.

My mortgage offer expires 4th oct

Am pulling out in 2 weeks if still nothing!!

I had received my mortgage offer from Santander and it took less than 2 weeks after submitting the mortgage application (I am a FTB and everything was straightforward).

First time buyers, buying a new build, leasehold with HTB. Was told completion was due mid July.
    Timeline:

17/3 Reservation fee paid, HTB/mortgage applied for through advisor
    26/3 Solicitors instructed
10/4 Help to buy ATP received
10/5 Mortgage offer received from Barclays
    1/6 Searches submitted by conveyancer
    10/7 Environmental reports/searches etc. received
26/7 Solicitor told us she'd email and post the full reports including contracts for us to sign
    2/8 Solicitor actually emailed reports
2/8 House was completed, signed off, certified. Ready to live in.
8/8 Reports/contracts finally turned up in the post
8/8 Our contract from our current, rented flat ended. We had to put everything in storage and move in to a friend's spare room
10/8 Solicitor's expected day for exchanging contracts (with completion arranged for 16/8). Delayed due to awaiting some confirmation from the lender
13/8 Lender (Barclays) delays again - needs to review ground rent and send info to valuation team

The 16th August has been agreed as a completion date, but for some reason Barclays valuation team need to review the costs of our ground rent, despite having been informed of the leasehold since March. Apparently the valuation team usually take 3-5 days to respond, though we've been told our case has been expedited to get a reply sooner.
Help to Buy need 2 days between Exchange and Completion, so if Barclays do not get back to us by tomorrow, we will not be able to complete on the set day.

The house has been ready since the beginning of August. We've trying to get this sorted since March (5 months!). We've told our solicitors all along that our renting contract ends early August. We're living in a friend's spare room and we still don't know if we can get the keys this week or if we have to impose on someone else for longer.
Even worse - I don't know why Barclays are having to question the ground rent at this stage (or at all), and I just hope that this won't cause them to pull out at the last minute and leave us with nowhere to live.

    UPDATE:
Barclays passed it to their "valuation team" who passed it to their "ground rent team" and we are no further along. We've now missed our chance to complete tomorrow, as arranged. Even if Barclays approve today, we will need to confirm a completion date with HTB so it's likely to be some time next week. Solicitor doesn't think there will be a problem, but she also seemed to know nothing about needing to send this info to begin with (because she's terrible). I called Barclays myself and they said "your solicitor should have sent this when the mortgage was signed off, months ago."

So another week of living out of a suitcase in my friend's spare room with all my belongings in storage. And I'm spending all day every day refreshing my emails to see if Barclays are going to turn down our mortgage at the last minute and actually leave us without anywhere to live. So miserable now, I just want this to be over.
