fingers crossed you get exchanged by the end of the week. Let us know! :T
It's basically paying them to get it over with so they don't have to deal with them again! They didn't book a survey until everything else was done ready to exchange, and for the past 3 weeks they've come up with excuse after excuse to delay things and the vagueness of aforementioned very late survey has not helped matters.
We've have no update since yesterday lunchtime from the EA so more waiting today :eek:0 -
Oh Jennhg88 that’s so stressful
Fingers crossed for good news today. They really need to pull up their fingers out!0 -

They keep agreeing dates, but then just go silent.
I think it's safe to consider this one may never come good.
Best of luck to everyone else, wishing you all the success we haven't yet managed. We will hopefully one day get a home of our own.
I know exactly how you feel! We have been trying to exchange every day since 23/8!
We will get there....0 -
I really don't understand why solicitors dont make sure everything is in hand before suggesting it is possible to try to exchange. Do all the faffing around before hand not when everyone is aware of it all whilst waiting to exchange. So much stress. A simple 'sorry, all our ducks aren't in a row yet' {when 'our' is all the solicitors in the chain} would suffice until the time comes to bring it all together for exchange. Why is it so difficult?
I'm not sure how you are all holding it together to be honest.“Isn't this enough? Just this world? Just this beautiful, complex

I've been thinking the same, I think in my case it was because the EA was withholding info about the state of the bottom of the chain. We are now dealing with the owner of the office instead which seems to be a lot better in terms of open communication. But yeh it's weird how several times my solicitor has asked if we are happy to exchange with a completion date of X, when I'd heard from the EA the day before that there was a delay or something and we were not ready to talk about completion dates. Weird.0 -
Exchange attempts timeline (3 person chain)
17/8 completion of 14/9 agreed, told chain is ready....
23/8 first attempt recieve no response from vendors solictor
24/8 recieve no response
25/8 recieve no response
Bank holiday weekend
28/8 vendors solicitor claims the delay was due to not being able to contact their client. Vendor herself contradicts saying not heard from her solicitor for 2 weeks and been contactable.
29/8 Vendors give authority in the morning! But now apparently vendors vendor have not signed their contracts. This will be done today ready for tomorrow so we are told.
30/8 recieve no response
3/9
Today is attempt number 8!
Apparently we are back to the contracts again. Apparently they are signed but friday were delivered to a different branch of the solictor. This means they needed to be sent internally so exchange could take place. Word is our vendors solictor can not get a clear response as to whether the onward solicitor actually has the hard copy now or not...
The mystery continues...
Day 9 of the contracts exchange saga...
Heard nothing so far today, so we have now emailed the estate agents threatening to withdraw...
To be continued....0 -

I don't know how you've coped, I've about lost my head and it's only day 3 of trying to exchange, I can't imagine feeling like this for 9 days
fingers crossed your threat to pull out gets things over the line!0 -

They've now been given the full report they were waiting on (that my buyer very kindly paid for even though it wasn't necessary at all!!!) and reminded of the price drop offer. Hopefully that will get them moving. I just hate being in this limbo, and there's nothing I can do.0 -
Can't seem to get a straight answer about my vendor's Probate situation (they are selling as Executor for a deceased person).
Silence from their solicitor and EA. Even asked the vendor directly but they are clueless.
Contract, TR1 and completion monies have all gone to my solicitor now, so hopefully someone will give them an answer soon.
Knowing my luck, they won't even have applied for it yet!!!!0
