Talk to the vendors CTC! I’m in regular text/email contact with both the buyers and sellers now and it is so much more reassuring and things that need resolved are getting sorted within hours rather than within weeks.0

I think I will - they stand to lose just as much as me if this falls through. I'll pop in tomorrow. Thanks0 -
You'll feel so much better just for knowing! They might even be wishing they could just get in touch directly with you too. Good luck!0

Congrats :j
I'm so happy for everyone who exchanged today :beer:0 -
A bit more progress - all parties except the top of the chain have agreed 16th Feb as completion date. They're a couple who are divorcing so there may be some communication delay issues there. Once they come back and agree, we should finally be able to exchange - hopefully some time next week. I'll be happier once our buyer has been round with his architect next Tuesday; he's a property developer who hasn't visited the property yet, but he knows the area and type of houses well, and our previous buyer had a survey done which didn't show any issues."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Tiglath we’re having a ‘top of the chain’ issue too - so frustrating when everyone else is good to go. Our top of the chain was supposed to be going into rented accommodation but has just decided she wants to buy instead, and expects the rest of the chain to wait for her purchase to be ready (who knows how long the chain might end up being!!). Hope yours come back and agree the 16th soon! I was really hoping to be in ours for the week of the 12th Feb, but not sure how likely that’s looking now.0

Well I went and spoke to my vendors, decided to do it tonight in case they worked or were away this weekend.
So glad I did, they are lovely and have really put my mind at ease. They're just as stressed and will put pressure on their sol on Monday to get this sorted. They could also move in with parents if needed to make sure I can complete before my offer expires. They seemed happy I came around as well, and we chatted about furniture they wanted to leave. Seems their vendor and sol have been a nightmare to get hold of and super slow.
I feel so much better about this this now and think it may happen!
Have a relaxing weekend everyone. Nothing we can do until Monday so have a drink or two and kick back.
Tune on Monday for the next episode of Will CTC ever buy this house :rotfl:0 -
Yay! Congrats FTB and Gawatate :j
Sorry to hear you're not there yet Littlebobo, CTC et alHopefully you'll consume copious quantities of your favourite beverage tonight/Saturday, fall into a deep slumber and awake to great news on Monday!
In other news, we're seriously reconsidering our proposed purchase, having revisited it today. Another property is in the frame, but we're going to have a long hard think over our options during the weekend. As it's only two weeks since we offered and no paperwork has come through yet from the vendor's sols, we don't feel too bad......nonetheless I'm conscious of letting our vendor down.
Otoh, there's no chain involved - our sale is exchanged and unconnected plus our vendor is going into rented - and we don't want to make another costly error by buying the wrong house
Decisions, decisions!
Edited to add - so glad you had a productive meet with your vendors, CTC! We always keep in close contact with our buyers and have found it pays dividends. Fingers crossed for you xMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Good to see all the progress today, congrats! I'd have a drink to celebrate/commiserate with you guys but I'm doing stupid Dry Jan. I put on a stone during our house nightmare, so back to the gym for me
Yes, contact with vendor is great. Ours have actually been round a few times since we moved in to see their cat that we are fostering until their purchase goes through. Weird for all of us but catkins needs come first lol.
Have good weekends all0
