Our Vendors solicitors asked today if we agreed to a completion date of the 21st, but we've had to go back to our lender to get the mortgage paperwork updated to show the newly agreed sale price, which she is completely aware of, and they haven't returned it yet, so I replied to say I don't actually think it's doable.
Bear in mind the property we're buying is an ex rental, so she doesn't live there, there's no onward chain and she's not relying on the funds for her own purchase etc, she just wants the money before Christmas, which I do understand, but she seems to be to be pushing it unrealistically just so she can have a splurge over the holidays without any thought for how achievable that actually is, or whether we even want to complete before Christmas (which we don't).
We've also asked from the start that the house is cleared out of all the furniture that's in there, she's now asked us to reassure her that we will definitely go ahead with the purchase because if we don't she will need the items to re-let the property, but all of it is old and falling apart anyway so no right thinking tenant would actually want it. It would also indicate that she would re-let the property in its current state, which is shocking as it needs a LOT of work.
I've suggested we exchange before Christmas if she wants the reassurance we are serious, but go for an early January completion as we think that's much more reasonable.0 -
I'm moving into three different locations so it's such a pain.
My storage container, garage storage and my mums.
I'm tired of trying to explain why I need some clarity and fed up as no one is listening to me at all.
They all keep saying don't worry it will be okay/sorted out/ these are minor issues without committing to anything or offering solutions.
I've tried explaining that although I'm 50% moved out what is left is all the big furniture so it's not like I can sling it in the back of the car....
I keep telling them I need a mover.
Most are finishing early around here and getting booked up so I'm close to panic mode now.
I think I'm going to suggest exchange on the 21st and completion in early January just so I can enjoy my Christmas.1 -

Hoping anyone who is waiting for good news or breakthroughs hear something positive this week!I had presumed the buyer had already signed these, but apparently that’s what we are waiting for at the moment. I think generally (people on here will most likely know for sure) the sellers sign the relevant paperwork first.1

25/08/2022 - Offer accepted
30/08/2022 - Mortgage application submitted
05/09/2022 - Mortgage offer received
07/09/2022 - Memorandum of sale received from EA, solicitor instructed
15/09/2022 - Home buyers survey completed
23/09/2022 - Home buyers survey report received, all fine
26/09/2022 - Local searches back, all fine
30/09/2022 - Met the solicitor to go through the searches, pre-signed the contract and land registry. She was checking through her emails and noticed that she'd not heard back from the sellers solicitor about the enquiries since 03/09/2022.
So it's all ready on my end more or less, just waiting to hear back from the seller's solicitor.
Should've had an inkling last week when my solicitor was chasing for enquiries that hadn't been answered since 30th September.
So unbelievably upset and disappointed.
So my mortgage broker is going to resubmit the mortgage application today and solicitor will get the ball rolling.1 -

didn’t feel real until now and I’m so excited!
Now pondering whether to hire a Luton can and move ourselves or get a firm to do it.Main concern is we have a lot of expensive collectible books that I don’t want damaging!3 -
Our solicitor got the rest of the replies yesterday (hopefully all of them?) and is reviewing them later today. I'm still really hoping that they're all satisfactory.
It's quite weird not really knowing where we're moving to next Monday, but I have to admit I'm not actually feeling super stressed about it right now. Definitely have been more stressed at other points throughout the process so far, and am currently going through a bit of a 'zen' phase1 -
