My final update. Call at 9:30am to exchange, call at 10:30am from estate agents followed by solicitor confirming keys could be collected. Straight down and in by 10:45am.

Good luck everyone else with their journeys!
  • Thanks everyone for your support.

PPL are a absolute S**t Show. It’s been excuse after excuse all week they then said no reason why we can’t exchange and complete in one day (yesterday) then got told they are waiting for the buyers ID to be verified. !!!!!!!! Should that not of been done back in July. Then got told at 12 they are just checking over everything then can exchange and complete on Monday and mortgage companies happy to hold funds….3pm still not ready.

first it was waiting for contract then was lost so sent via email. Then was still need original. Then will use scanned copy if they email proof of postage. Then was checking with broker they are happy to continue. Then ID checks. Then just a still not ready.

So this is where we are at. We are still in our old house. We are going to speak to our solicitor on Monday about what we will have to pay if we pull out. If it’s a great deal we will have to ride the wave but if it’s a few hundred quid we going to just stay in our house now.

Our buyer is a pastor so I’m not sure whether there is a issue with money or if he’s trying to use church money. It’s their second home so the deposit isn’t from a sale of a property. That is my only logically reasoning. The buyer Isn’t even telling the estate agent what he knows. We are all being led up the garden path.

P.S just to make matters worse we all ended up sleeping on mattresses on the floor as we thought we would be tight for time yesterday so brought the beds down.

So congratulations to everyone that exchanged or completed. Hope you all have a smooth ride. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

    xx

@charlotte1988 we seem to be following the same path although we will not exchange & complete on the same day and have requested 2 weeks in-between

we were told yesterday that the dreaded Covid has risen & so we wait until Monday ..I'm sure we will get there eventually
  • @charlotte1988 I was so hoping yesterday that no news from you was good news and you were busy moving, so sorry to hear they've messed up even more. I hope you get the answer you want on Monday.

Still don't have the responses to the "enquiries" that I frankly don't care about any of, wasting another week. I mean, maintaining the boundaries of the property? It's a terraced house with a small garden, I don't care if I'm responsible for the garden wall or not. A leasehold information form? For a lease that's hundreds of years long and requires me to pay a few shillings a year to someone who no longer cares to ask for it, with no restrictions on use? Why? Oh no, the freeholder might come out of the woodwork and demand £5 back rent? Who cares?! I'm going to be sofa surfing if this carries on much longer!
  • @charlotte1988 so sorry it didn’t happen for you.  Are your vendors okay waiting or is this jeopardising your onward purchase?

    Thanks everyone.

Our onward purchase they are really chilled as their property they got from a trust when their parents died so it’s empty. We aren’t in a rush now as we missed our sons school deadline so I think on Monday I’m going to say they need to tell us realistically how long they need and then when they think they are ready we will discuss completion dates. Our next completion date wouldn’t be until 11th March anyways so if they say we will be ready by end of week we can check towards the end how they are doing then go from there. But I’ve said categorically we will not exchange and complete on the same day. It was never our plan anyways but were forced into a corner.

We’ve paid almost £2000 for various things searches, surveys etc since we have tried to move back in July and we could of put that towards something else so don’t want to really give up now and have nothing to show for it. I’m trying to stay positive now I’ve calmed down but I was so angry yesterday and this morning but trying to not give up yet.

I really hope we all have a good week next week. There is a few of us who are really going through the ringer with these house moves.

If it gets bad people just think Charlotte had it bad and she’s still plodding along. 😂 just lol.

So sorry to hear it didn't go through yesterday.

TBH, your timescale for completion on 2nd choice house was always ambitious, but I'm not sure if this is still your original buyer? If it is, then totally understand your anger at the continuing delays.

FWIW, you've been through so much and sounded as though you really love this house, so please don't throw in the towel at this stage unless you're absolutely sure about it. Your vendors will probably wait a few more weeks for you.

I know how you’re feeling but at least you’ve now got a plan of action - I was in the process of throwing in the towel when our mortgage was expiring and then I looked for other houses and nothing compared at the time so hopefully you’ve found one that’s worth the wait (especially considering the issue is your buyer and not the house!)
