  • Congrats @jackhjones

@Smith6789 What does your solicitor think? Ours wouldn't let us buy indemnity policies as she said we can't identify ourselves against something; but I'm not sure that's legally correct, as many others seem to allow it! I hope they get back to you soon.

@scottie21 Eeek. I hope you get an update soon, time must feel like it's going in slow motion.

I thought we'd hear from our buyer; but nothing since we sent over everything yesterday morning. I'm presuming it's just with their solicitor, but I thought they'd confirm if they want the searches...

  • Good luck to everyone completing today! @scottie21 I hope your radio silence means that you've completed and are busy moving your stuff!

We've found out today that our vendor has found a property (no chain)! Apparently, they actually had the offer accepted last week but someone else took the call at their estate agents so they had only found out today. Either way, we're ecstatic!

Our EA called our cash buyers (who wanted to be in by January) and they're extremely happy that they could be in before Christmas! It would have been unlikely with any other house but our chain is complete, so we just have to crack on!

Our survey happened today, so we should get the report tonight or tomorrow and I need to still check whether our searches have begun. Apparently they're pretty quick in our county. Then we just need to wait for our mortgage offer which we'll hopefully get at the end of next week!

11/09 Viewed Property and put in offer (quick, but when you know, you know)
13/09 Offer accepted and memo of sale received
14/09 Solicitor instructed and searches paid for
18/09 Homebuyer Report scheduled for 30/09
21/09 Updated memo of sale received with change of solicitors (originally was down as Countrywide)
23/09 Full mortgage application with Nationwide via broker
27/09 Confirmation that Nationwide will be completing a valuation on 07/10
    30/09 Homebuyers survey completed
30/09 Confirmation that the chain is complete

I know right!!! The silence is worrying me! (or it may mean everyone is busy moving/drunk on champagne)
  • Mine suppose to be a straightforward purchase. We are renting at the moment, and seller is just selling her investment with the tenants moved out at the end of August.

On one hand, EA told me my solicitor is very efficient as she has been working with her for the past few years. On the other hand, my solicitor never update me on the progress, never reply my emails and voice messages.

Radio silence since the draft contract pack received and the local searches have been sent out on 1 Sept. Tried to call her to ask for an update on Mon.  I know they must be busy with stamp duty.  Will try again tomorrow.

Hi everyone! Just got back from our house!!! All went absolutely smoothly and we had the keys by 2pm. Have already met our neighbour who seems lovely.

Sadly have to wait another week to properly move in, but it's ours now and we can go back and visit whenever we want.

Hope everyone else who was meant to be completing today made it across the line!
    Congrats!!! x
