  • We've completed on our sale this morning just waiting for the word to get the keys for our purchase, then I can load up the cat and drive over (our buyers aren't coming in until 5.30 so agent said no rush).
Fantastic news 🤗 enjoy your new home 🍾🍾🍾

We did get in finally about 4.45. The cats had a night on their own at the new house, we had another day squeezed in at the in-laws and I am finally in bed in the new house. The shower here almost makes uo for the stress. Our movers were a god send in the end. Managed a full day of work today where they retrieved our things from storage and rebuilt the furniture. To anyone considering movers ease do it! They are extremely helpful and have probably seen your stressful situation before.

Thanks for thinking of me and good luck to everyone looking to complete tomorrow!!
So pleased to hear that. It does sound really stressful, but great that you had the support of those fab movers. Enjoy your new home 😺😻

Ah okay, makes sense! Honestly, ask for 4 weeks and see what happens. In normal time people don't tend to book movers etc until after exchange, so it might be absolutely fine with your chain. I think everything at the moment is just really messed up by the stamp duty deadline.
Totally agree. I was so nervous of asking for what we needed, but 3 parties in the chain did manage to agree on a date (shame there are 4 of us in chain). Our buyers seem to want Christmas 😳🎄so 4 weeks sounds completely reasonable to me!
  • I’m a FTB, and after seeing some of your posts having horrible and difficult times, I worry that mine is going smoothly... too smoothly?

We are buying our home as cash buyers, the property is in Scotland. In the middle of nowhere (what we have always dreamed of) our offer was put in on the 8th Sept, accepted same day. We have a date agreed for the 22nd of October. This date, our solicitor suggested, which was fine by us and the seller as it’s empty. So a quick sale for them and us.

Our solicitor is preparing to send us the report on title any day now.

I’m wondering as I’m completely new to this, does it sound like it’s on track?

(I have been logging in everyday and catching up with everyone’s posts to see if you have completed yet or not, congratulations to everyone that has completed! And I feel so gutted when I read others have been left hanging another day) xx
  • Hi @Faodail ☺️ If your solicitor says it's possible, then I can see no reason why that couldn't work. The system seems to work so much better in Scotland and you're in the ideal position. It's hard to know from what you say how much there might be left to do, but your conveyancer will have the best sense of it. Must admit to feeling a tad envious. We put house on market & had offers sorted last October 2020...and here we still are. I hope it goes to plan for you though, cos this is how it should be.
  • Awww thank you @birdmadgirl8! I do hope so, I guess I’m just fretting because of reading others, like your own story of what’s happened... and I’m waiting for that bump in the road.

I cannot believe the amount of time you and others have had to wait... it’s ridiculous. I do hope and pray that the motions start rolling for you! I will keep checking everyday as I always do, on how you are all getting on. Xx
  • Thank you @Faodail - don't let our situation scare you though. Most chains complete much more quickly, plus yours is really straightforward. This thread is great for showing what can happen and it prepares you for the possibility of problems - but that's not to say they will happen. If you read back through the thread to the start, you'll see that loads of  of chains compete without a hitch. If anything horrible does happen, we'll be here to commiserate 🙃
  • Good luck to everyone hoping to complete today 🍀
  • Managed to exchange yesterday (whilst mid flight on our return from our honeymoon) with completion today. Nice that we won't be starting our married life in my in laws loft! Although might need to stay here a while longer as there's no availability to get our stuff out of storage this week
