Mine suppose to be a straightforward purchase. We are renting at the moment, and seller is just selling her investment with the tenants moved out at the end of August.

On one hand, EA told me my solicitor is very efficient as she has been working with her for the past few years. On the other hand, my solicitor never update me on the progress, never reply my emails and voice messages.

Radio silence since the draft contract pack received and the local searches have been sent out on 1 Sept. Tried to call her to ask for an update on Mon.  I know they must be busy with stamp duty.  Will try again tomorrow.

Welcome @novelle 👋 That sounds very familiar - our solicitor only seems to respond when she feels pressure from action in the rest of the chain. To be fair, they must be so busy this week (as you say) and will be focusing on those who can complete in time. Hopefully the silence will break tomorrow.
    yes I hope so  :)

  • Ahh congrats everyone!

@DeletedUser How are you holding up?
Who knows I’ve just given up what will be will be
im going to Greece next week for two weeks to get some peace and perspective
well as much peace as you get with four pre teens lol
  • Congratulations @E_D_FTB and @Scotty21!! Enjoy your new houses!!

@DeletedUser Greece sounds lovely; have an amazing time.

I'm hoping for normality to resume next week, and maybe a bit more communication now the SLDT deadline is gone. I had a bit of a sad moment yesterday afternoon - I was so sure that we'd get it over the line with 12 weeks to go and a "straight" sale - but I'm doing okay, mostly.

As far as I know, we're still waiting on the new buyer to confirm that he wants the searches and make payment; and for his solicitor and mortgage broker to do their thing. The mortgage broker thought valuation early next week, but no contact on that yet.

I'm nervous but trying not to put that on the new buyer, I know a lot of it will be to do with the old one!

I know the feeling I was disappointed yesterday but then thought I’m not getting down about something I can’t control! Hope you feel better about it soon

I am focusing on pushing it through for next week now because half my house is packed and half isn’t, feel in limbo!
  • Reading the posts on this thread has certainly given me some perspective - I don’t know how some of you are coping with the stress!

My purchase has luckily not been complicated, it just all seems to have taken a long time. I heard today that everything is ready for exchange, aiming for completion next Friday. Feeling rather giddy! I’ve been living in limbo since May, with most of my stuff still in boxes, and I am SO READY to get settled and organised and be able to think about other things!
