  • I'm hoping for before; I'd only have a few weeks left before my due date...
I'm sure they'll do everything they can to get you in. My sister and my cousin have just moved and managed to get in just before their babies were/are due. Of course they started the moving process after us and are still in first (not at all bitter 🙄), but so glad they got there in time. Sharing their luck with you!
Well I am taking no prisoners now! I want to be moved by 15th October at the latest… 😂😂

Hope it moves quickly for you all!
  • Congratulations @chm26 🔑🎉🍾 Enjoy your new home!

I feel like my searches have returned in record time! I wasn't expecting them back for a couple of weeks at best.
My solicitor has sent me the searches report and broken down the observations. But I feel like I don't understand a few of them.
    I feel so overwhelmed  :'(

The thing to remember is that surveyors have to cover themselves and so do solicitors. Some things sound scary, but a few quick Google searches often put things in perspective. You could try asking us about some of them. Sharing on here can help 🤗 We've been through two lots of searches now and have done a fair bit of reading around issues raised.
  • So with the stamp duty holiday over I've been trying to get some updates on my sellers onward purchase.
I've had report on title through today so really getting there now but nobody seems to want to let me know where the sellers are up to and its making me nervous.. I've tried both the estate agent who was so vague I'm starting to think she was maybe a politician in a previous life and the solicitor who has yet to get back to me...
I really hope I'm stressing for nothing
Have you considered making direct contact with your buyer? We're in contact with ours and it really helps. We only send brief updates at key moments, but it helps with anxiety. Assuming they're approachable & uncomplicated, that is...!
  • Hope it gets sorted soon @hg1994 and you don't end up wasting your leave.

I have had an email from our solicitor and he said he’s expedited our sale (as he knows how keen we are to get up there!) he sent through the report on title, owners likely signing documents this week, ours is being sent recorded next day and will be sent back the same. Transferring the funds to the solicitor today so it’s ready for whenever it’s needed! Our date of entry could be moved to the 15th Eeeeeekkk!

This seems like some sort of miracle to me. Look what can be done 👀 it's amazing and gives me hope that it could work out!
Honestly, if this guy pulls this off without a hitch and only started the process on the 8th of Sept... I will be recommending him to any and everyone! 💗
  • So, yesterday afternoon our solicitors said we could try for exchange today. Waited nervously (from about 4.00 am) and...nothing. Checked in with agent. We both chased solicitor. In court for most of day, but partner says she might make it back. Asks us for authority to exchange anyway. Why not just tell us she was going to be in court yesterday though? Agent still determined it's going to happen at 4.00 pm. Then buyers' solicitor admits some paperwork is missing, though deposit has arrived (just not cleared). No news from top of chain who said they'd pull out if we didn't exchange today. I REALLY hope that's an empty threat. Another weekend of uncertainty. Sigh!

Congrats to all those who made the deadline! Hope you are enjoying your new homes and ready to leave this thread once and for all!

Signed all the contracts and almost everything seems sorted. Haven't transferred across money yet (have never been so eager to give away such a large amount of money before). The only thing left seems to be a really old local charge from when the house was first built. I imagine it will be resolved quickly but I have no idea how long these things take, and it's been part of the back and forth with enquiries for over a month. I guess my solicitor has been busy with clients trying to meet the stamp duty deadline, but I'm getting antsy with her ignoring my emails. She has proposed we exchange and complete on the same day, and I've had to bite the bullet and take the time off work. Not exactly disastrous if we don't complete, but sitting in my rental and refreshing my emails seems like a terrible use of leave.
I like the part when you say "never been so eager to give away large amount of money"
