That does sound positive so fingers crossed it gets pushed through. The threats will just get people’s backs up so hopefully they stop with those.birdmadgirl8 said:We had okay(ish) news today. Our buyer was stalling last week & we spent weekend worrying he might pull out. I've seen an email trail today that shows he is pushing to get his new mortgage deal through though, which is something. Solicitor is back to her non responsive self, but I'm not surprised this week really. The rest of the chain are still angry that we haven't exchanged, but threats just aren't helpful. Even our agents had a hissy fit at each other. Worse than my cat!Stress running high making them behave like angry cats can’t be pleasant to experience!Hope things smooth out and move forward soon. 🤞1 -
Thanks @ss2020jd - I've got to believe this one will work out!2

If we atleast exchange contracts; then if anything happens, we atleast have some protection.

Congratulations!!ss2020jd said:Just a fleeting check-in but sorry to read all the mixed posts today. Hoping for better luck and progress for everyone as the week goes on.
Proof that it can happen and that there are good people out there - we completed this morning, got the keys at lunchtime today. The sellers were so lovely - they had cleaned, left loo rolls, bin day details, a card and details of people who do various bits on the house plus set up each of the fires ready for us to light! The only thing was there was a leak outside from the water meter when we got there but the water co. said it was on their side so would get someone to fix it tomorrow 😬.
Overlapping with the rental so moving gradually but didn’t want to leave tonight. Back with more boxes tomorrow and can’t wait for everything to be out of storage and in the house.Wishing luck to everyone else. 🤞 Will pop back to see how everyone’s progressing but you will get there eventually!Big thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and keeping me going during the rollercoaster ride that is selling and buying… 🤗🙏🏻🤪19/7: Sale property on market

Oh No! - Sounds super stressful - hope it all works out in the end!Lorann_86 said:
I had this today. We have had to arrange storage, rebook the movers for another day and camp and the in-laws. Left our cats at the old house and have to pick them up early in the morning as apparently everything is ready to go, just would not have hit our vendors bank today so we could not complete. Most stressful day of my life.House_owner said:Just had a phone call from my estate agent - wanting me to make arrangements to drop off keys! I said but we haven't exchanged contracts yet - and she said well the solicitors are very busy so it will probably happen on the same day as completion, but obviously there is no gurantee that it will happen!
Looks like I am going to be in a position of having a removal lorry full of my house contents but with possibility for it to have no where for it to go! Don't know whether to laugh or cry - think I will just eat a big load of chocolate instead!0 -
We've only taken a half day on completion to collect keys, then booked time off a week later to actually move (joys of being a FTB with rental overlap!). Our sellers are lovely and I don't want them to feel pressured to be out by 11 on the dot.FirstTimePlx said:arrows123 said:

Crikey, it sounds like yesterday was tough for a few of us! Congrats @ss2020jd, enjoy your new home! Your sellers sound lovely.
Well, the Memorandum of Sale from our very keen buyer didn't come through yesterday... And 3pm bought an email from our estate agent saying our old buyer hadn't officially instructed his solicitor to sell his searches, so would we consider buying them for our buyer?
It felt a bit weird, but we didn't get chance to reply - the estate agent called to say he'd got cold feet, he hadn't realised he'd need to pay for another mortgage offer through his broker, and for more searches, etc. He wanted £2k off. To be honest, I wanted to walk away. He's got a 25% deposit... he's "losing" £1k pulling out of his current purchase, but we're losing £6k from his original offer, and £6k in SLDT and costs so far. My husband negotiated £500 off to cover half of his remortgage costs... That was accepted at 6pm.
But still no memorandum this morning; which is worrying. I guess we're probably waiting for him to pull out of his other purchase, but I don't know. No response from estate agent, and solicitor is a bit put out that she agreed to reorganise work to get the packs and everything over to his solicitor yesterday, and then didn't get the MoS.
I'm so over selling. I really want the house, but it's taken over everything. A big part of me wants to quit now and get ready for the baby.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:1 -
We're now at week 12 since offer accepted. I hoped we'd have got somewhere by now.
Solicitor was instructed to start searches on 23rd August, and told us they'd be back in 3-4 weeks. We've left it alone until now, I thought they'd be back by now. I'm going to wait until Friday (1st October) before chasing the solicitor as we're going on holiday for a week so I won't be so anxious sat waiting for their response if I'm distracted by being away!
I also tried to get in contact with our sales progressor but haven't heard back from them. They're the only way of me knowing where the rest of the chain is at. I think we're going to be sat ready to go long before everyone else
Back in July when we offered I thought maybe we'd be in in October, that seems doubtful now! November maybe? I just hope it doesn't slip past Christmas. We have to be out of our rental 25th January and we really wanted a 1 month overlap so I'm hoping we can be in by Christmas Day!
I just have to keep reminding myself that the longer this takes, the more paycheques we'll have. Since we are going on holiday we are actually a tiny bit short of our "fees" required (we need an extra £295 for a HSBC fee that slipped past me) so October payday will be the first one where we have surplus cash to put towards our appliances. Every paycheque we clear before moving is more cash to move in with!
Our friend who lives in Amsterdam started looking for a property a few weeks after we did and he completed today
Why is this country so insane with the house buying process! 0
