    No exchange today sadly.

Did find it funny the seller emailed me and estate agent ranting why hasn't exchanged happened and that they have relocations booked etc.
Claiming my solicitors are holding it up and messing about.

Luckily my solicitors emailed me a copy of an email they got today from the sellers solicitors stating that they couldn't get a hold of the sellers to proceed today.

So I forwarded that on to the seller and estate agent and said you might want to chase your own solicitors as mine were waiting.

I think they then were meant to email only the estate agent back and not include me. They ranted at the estate agent complaining about their solicitor saying they havnt been in touch with them and they will complain to them tomorrow. The seller is using a estate agent recommended solicitor...

I'm glad I didn't take their offer up and went with my own lol. Was slightly amusing to see.

Fingers crossed it happens tomorrow tho! Least I know the sellers are keen to be getting out.

So it's your buyers fault you require 3 days for the big distance move? Hmmmm.
No, but I've had no better reason from our buyer to choose a Friday over a day earlier the week. We can only work with what our removal firm can do (and our house is already half packed into their boxes). If we can't get our stuff out of the house, they can't move in!

Better reason than working, the majority (not all) completions take place on Friday.

You've called them stupid, Well stoopid when you require 3 days. Nobody requires 3 days no matter the distance.

Here's an idea, put your items in storage you you are ready to go on the Friday that's decided. You haven't exchanged yet so risk them pulling out otherwise.
How do you know how many days someone
    requires??

Does not matter what your or I think. One party in that transaction cannot accommodate 3 days.

I've exchanged on a longstop in November. If I asked for 3 days before exchange took place I would expect to be turned down.

Pretty sure a straw poll  here will find 3 days excessive.

If it doesn’t matter what you or I think makes me wonder why you commented in the first place

I thought this was a place for us all to discuss our situations and give advice to help 🤷‍♀️

Excuse me for calling out the rudeness towards a buyer from a seller that requires a 3 day turnaround.
  • We have agreed completion for 27/09 (Monday) and our solicitor advised she had requested funds from Santander to be released on 24/09 (Friday) and we were waiting for confirmation that funds would be released so that we could exchange today........  except she didn't, she put 26/09 (Sunday) on the certificate of title.

An amendment has gone in to Santander today - is this just a simple thing to get around so that we can exchange tomorrow - or will we need to revise the completion date?  Solicitor should have called back this evening with confirmation one way or the other but hasn't :-(

The 3-day removal: 1st day loading and travel part way North, 2nd day continue North and unload, 3rd day is return journey for removals.  It's only the 1st day we are trying to align with a completion date, we just needed 2 weekdays after the completion day for the removals to finish their job. I only picked a Monday in October to complete as it was the first available day the removals could do after our buyer's having delayed lots since July and then suddenly turned around and expected to complete in mid-Sept with a weeks notice...

But yes, we're chasing up plans to vacate earlier, putting stuff in storage for a week before it can be transported up North, staying over somewhere etc. We want to progress here, but I did need to vent frustrations at this additional faff and delay that seems so unnecessary.

  • I'm going round in circles, my solicitors saying they're still waiting on answers from the buyers solicitors to some queries, before they can report back to me. EA telling me everything is ready their side. Then the vendors solictor emails saying they have answered ALL queries.......apart from one thing they're waiting on some details for (so they haven't answered ALL queries!!).

Why don't they just pick the phone up to each other!!

Everyone has their circumstances that need working around, and finding a day that works for everyone, not just one party, is all part of the process. Did you let your buyers know early on that you'd need a early/mid-week completion? If so, then they have no right to be shocked now.

And as you said, this forum is a place to vent frustrations and get advice from fellow house buying/selling sufferers. We've all had mean words at one point or another about other parties in the chain when it's getting tough! Hope you can get it all worked out!
