  • Ahh congratulations @toniq!!

@Arfa__ Weirdly, our solicitor doesn't offer completion on Monday or Tuesday... They said Thursday was their preference. I suspect we'll be a Friday, as the rest of the chain would prefer it, and given that our buyer has been the pain, I don't want to push!

I'm glad your vendors are flexible, though, and I wish your buyers would be! That does sound like a complete faff.
Im at the point now I don’t care which day it is as long as my calendar still says September…
  • Still no contract pack after another week of waiting. Now been waiting 2 months and no idea why it is taking so long...

The mortgage broker is now chasing too so yeah we're all badgering them for it now ha.

I'm not paying for searches (solicitor is no sale, no fee) and survey until it arrives so yeah we're stalled.

The house next door still has not sold and they have lowered the price by 25k so 50k more than my offer.

Congrats to everyone with movement, exchange and completion.

Bah! So close to exchanging, everything is nailed down except the completion date. We're tied to our move from London to Scotland needing a 3-day removal job. Our stooopid buyers are still insisting on completing on a Friday, despite the fact getting removals to work over a weekend is a pain and expensive. Not to mention the Friday's they've suggested are now already booked up. They can't possibly complete on earlier in the week, because they're working and it'll spoil their lovely celebration of buying their first house, getting keys and drinking bubbles on the same day... Despite assurances from our EA they can complete whilst working and pick up the keys at their leisure any day of the week. They're only moving 2 miles down the road! Now they're threatening to pull out because they can't move on a day they like. I seriously dispair!

Removals are booking up fast and I'm struggling to find dates without going late into October, or potentially doing something convoluted like putting things into storage for a week. Why didn't I just sell to a BTL landlord with cash...?!

So it's your buyers fault you require 3 days for the big distance move? Hmmmm.

Sadly I have given up on September and am now hoping for October, but I've got my fingers crossed for you!!

Did anyone get back to you?

We had radio silence, other than our estate agent telling us she had a nice week off but hasn't heard from our buyer 😅
    Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:

Yes my vendor solicitor told my solicitor that they have the replies to enquiries and will send them over as soon as they can as there is a queue for people wanting to complete by end of September 🙄😂

and also mentioning my partners middle name is on the mortgage offer but knowhere else on the paperwork 🙄🙄🙄🙄

  • I’ve managed to get a removals slot for 7th October and so I’ve said that’s the date.  Our buyers have said they might know a friend who is a man with a van, but for my sanity I need a firm that’s done this before.  I’d prefer not to pay the extra stamp duty, but removals are getting ridiculous.

No, but I've had no better reason from our buyer to choose a Friday over a day earlier the week. We can only work with what our removal firm can do (and our house is already half packed into their boxes). If we can't get our stuff out of the house, they can't move in!

  • We've exchanged! Completing on our sale on Thursday and our purchase on 14th October. Now to start packing! Good luck everyone :)

    13/7 Hard search Equifax (ClearScore)
14/7 Proof of deposit requested in a different format
19/7 Gifted deposit form requested for non-sale part of the deposit - funds were from some inheritance, not gifted - deed of variation sent.
2/8 Text and email saying offer issued, details to follow in the post!

  • I’m so jealous of everyone exchanging and completing! Congratulations everyone one.

im still waiting for an update and the silence is driving me mad. Think I’m going to need a lot of wine to survive until completion.

Better reason than working? the majority (not all) completions take place on Friday.

You've called them stupid, Well stoopid when you require 3 days. Nobody requires 3 days no matter the distance.

Here's an idea, put your items in storage you you are ready to go on the Friday that's decided. You haven't exchanged yet so risk them pulling out otherwise.
